2019 saw one of the biggest scandals in recent memory with the FBI’s “Operation Varsity Blue” investigation. The college admissions bribery scandal exposed wealthy parents, including actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin, who paid their way to get their children into elite colleges. Now, with a television series and movie in the works, we can’t help but wonder who will play Lori Loughlin in the dramatization of these events. Here are five actresses we’d love to see take on the role.
1. Lori Loughlin Herself
While it’s highly unlikely, it would be fascinating to see Lori Loughlin portray herself in the movie. However, with her acting career in jeopardy due to the scandal, it’s doubtful she would be given the opportunity. Loughlin’s wholesome image has been tarnished, and it’s uncertain if she can ever recover from the damage.
2. Candace Cameron-Bure
Candace Cameron-Bure has known Lori Loughlin for over 30 years, having worked together on “Full House” and “Fuller House.” Cameron-Bure has expressed her support for Loughlin and could bring a level of understanding and respect to the role. As a mother herself, she might be able to empathize with the vulnerability of wanting the best for one’s child. However, Cameron-Bure’s own upbringing in the industry was grounded in hard work and not taking success for granted.
3. Kellie Martin
Kellie Martin would be an excellent choice to play the Lori Loughlin-like character in the movie. Like Candace Cameron-Bure, Martin transitioned gracefully from child to adult actress and is also a mother. Best known for her role in “Life Goes On,” Martin took a break from acting to attend Yale University, where she earned an Art History degree. She has since starred in various television shows and movies, making her a strong candidate for the role.
4. Alison Sweeney
Alison Sweeney, another actress who successfully transitioned from child to adult roles, could bring honesty and vulnerability to the part of Lori Loughlin. Sweeney began her career at a young age and has since starred in various television movies and series. She has spoken candidly about her parents’ support and the importance of understanding that bad decisions have consequences. Sweeney’s grounded approach to parenting could bring an interesting perspective to the role.
5. Paige Turco
Paige Turco, who is also being considered to replace Lori Loughlin in “When Calls the Heart,” could easily take on the role in the college admissions scandal movie. With a career spanning soap operas and crime dramas, Turco’s acting experience makes her a perfect fit for a movie about the power of motherhood and scandal. She has appeared in numerous television shows, including “Law & Order: SVU,” “NYPD Blue,” and “NCIS: New Orleans.”
