Exclusive Interview: Actress Jane Seymour Discusses Her Career

Premiere Of Sony Pictures Classics' "Austenland" - Red Carpet

You may remember Jane Seymour as the title character of the 90’s drama Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. You may also recall her as Kitty Cat on Wedding Crashers. Seymour’s career expands over forty years and does not show any signs of letting up. Tonight, she appears on the TBS comedy Men at Work and plays a book publisher who meets Milo (Danny Masterson). This character more closely resembles Kitty Cat than Dr. Quinn. Seymour took a few minutes to sit down with us and discuss some of the highlights of her legendary career.

TVOM: Hi Jane. How are you doing today?

Jane Seymour:  Good thanks.

TVOM: I noticed that your birthday is this Saturday. Do you have any plans for the weekend?

Jane Seymour:  Yes actually. On Saturday I’m going to have a bit of a party with my friends at my home and then the following day I’m going towards Florida. I’m doing a one woman art show and actually my older son’s also showing. We’ll be in Safety Harbor. I’ll be doing publicity for that and I’m going to hopefully soak up some rays in the Florida area.

TVOM: That is a must when visiting Florida.

Jane Seymour:  Yes. I’ve just finished a movie called Bereave with Malcolm McDowell, Keith Carradine, and Vinessa Shaw. It was  very wonderful, fun to shoot. I’m quite exhausted so I’m looking forward to a little rest.

TVOM: I grew up watching Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman and my family was really excited when I told them I was going to be talking to you today. Do you have a lot of people that still recognize you for that role?

Jane Seymour:  Oh absolutely. And all over the world. It’s in, I think a hundred countries now. You know, when President Gorbachev comes up to me and goes, ‘Oh Dr. Quinn, Dr. Quinn.’ You realize that the show probably had even more of an impact in other countries than it did in America.

TVOM: Franklin & Bash is one of my favorite T.V. shows. And I remember the first time you guest-starred, I was really excited. You made another appearance in the third season. Are you planning on guest-starring in this summer’s episodes?

Jane Seymour:  Yes. They’ve actually offered me two episodes this season

TVOM: Great! I look forward to seeing you again.

Jane Seymour:  Thank you. Yes, I’m a big fan of the show too and of the guys. I think it’s wonderful that Breckin managed to go out and do his own thing as well. Really fun. I’m very grateful to Franklin & Bash because it’s generated lots of other fun things to do.

TVOM: I love Wedding Crashers. Do you have a lot of younger fans that come up to you because of that and ask if they can call you Kitty Cat?

Jane Seymour:  Absolutely. All the time. It’s really funny. Wherever I go, especially if I walk past any kind of bar that has a lot of young guys in it. I’ll get in an elevator and a lady of my age will come jumping in and just say, ‘My children say your name is Kitty Cat. What does that mean?’ I go, ‘you better ask them.’

TVOM: Thank you for chatting with us today.

Jane Seymour: Thank you.
