By far the biggest news coming out of Wrestlemania 33 is that it might be the Undertaker’s very last Wrestlemania. This will be the Undertaker’s 25th Wrestlemania in what has been one of the most stories careers in pro wrestling. The Undertaker set to bring his 22-1 WrestleMania record to Orlando as he faces off with Roman Reigns in what could possibly his final bout on the Grandest Stage Of Them All.
The Undertaker has nearly done it all in his 26 years with the WWE but it didn’t even start there. His career goes by to 1984 in the WCW. According to his Wiki Page:
Mark William Calaway began his wrestling career with World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW) in 1984. After wrestling for World Championship Wrestling (WCW) as “Mean Mark” Callous from 1989 to 1990, he signed with the then World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) in 1990 and has remained since, making him the company’s longest tenured in-ring performer. Calaway is widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time.
It’s pretty hard to argue that he’s one of the best wrestler’s ever and it’s rumored that his match at Wrestlemania could be his later. Calaway is 52-years-old which by some measures isn’t that old. The guys who “make it” tend to stick around into their 50s but I would imagine when you’ve been doing this for over 30 years it kind of takes its toll.
What’s probably most impressive about his entire body of work is that since 1990 The Undertaker has been “The Undertaker.” He’s always been the same character but as been able to reinvent himself so that he’s fresh in the minds of the fans and always draws a crowd. Here’s a look at his evolution over the years.
