Busy is about the only word that seems to come to mind when you read about Andrew Rannells. This guy has been busting his hump for a while now it seems trying to get his name and face out into the industry and onstage as much as possible. That’s admirable really since it takes a lot of hustle and gumption in Hollywood and in the theater, where he is also a fixture. His accomplishments are many and considering the fact that he’s still pretty young it’s fair to say that he’s only going to be adding to the list in the years to come. If you can believe it though this guy is 39 years old, which is amazing since he looks like he might have just walked out of college. It could be a product of healthy living or something else but Andrew looks far too young for his years, which could mean that he’ll be able to keep landing roles that might usually go to younger actors. But then again it’s all a matter of what he really wants to do and where he’s going to apply himself when it comes to his career.
After all just because you can play a younger role doesn’t mean that you should.
10. He started out taking acting classes as a child.
Andrew got an early start since he seemed to always know what he wanted to do. A lot of kids when they’re still so young won’t be thinking of much else but having fun and discovering the world around them in new and interesting ways. Andrew knew what he wanted to do and went directly for it.
9. He was 11 when he performed in his first play.
This is a guy that was driven from the start. He might have had butterflies in his stomach and a serious case of nerves when going out for the first time on stage, but seeing as he’s now a very accomplished actor it’s easy to see he got over that small matter.
8. He directed Kirby and Sonic the Hedgehog.
This was surprising to say the least since Sonic the Hedgehog was such a favorite of so many. Kirby was a well known game as well, but it’s interesting to find out that he had so much to do with both games. It might bear looking at the information on them both just to verify and be doubly amazed.
7. He’s a voice-over actor as well.
Andrew has done voice-over roles on a lot of shows, some of which were a pleasant surprise. He’s voice characters on Sofia the First, the new Disney show Vampirina, and a host of others that have made use of his talent.
6. He played the role of Link Larkin in the Broadway showing of Hairspray.
This is a role that’s kind of high profile and needs to be spot on, but it would appear that he did just fine as it seems that his act went off without a hitch. Link is of course the boyfriend of first Amber and then Tracey as the story progresses and is the pretty-boy that agrees with the idea of integration in the pop culture classic.
5. He played a stripper in the film Bachelorette.
It takes all kind of roles to make a star and it would seem that Andrew is up for pretty much anything so long as he can agree to it. He wouldn’t be the only actor to ever have to strip down while in a film, but for him it would probably be a little different at least when stripping for women.
4. He came out as gay when he was 18 years of age.
He told everyone but those at his school about his coming out. Thankfully a lot of people that knew him were supportive and his parents had already guessed at this before he decided to announce it. There are certain ways it seems to notice that your child is homosexual, but usually if a parent is able to support their child they will at least be able to hazard a guess before the individual decides to come out.
3. So far he’s been in some well known movies.
He’s had parts in Sex and the City 2, The Intern, and Why Him? so it’s safe to say that he’s been putting himself out there and seeing some measure of success. His roles aren’t always that big but there are times when he’s allowed to do a great deal more and manages to excel at such chances.
2. He was a temporary replacement in Hamilton.
This is a big deal since Hamilton is a huge production and has attracted quite the audience during its time. He managed to replace the actor for the part of King George III for a period of five weeks.
1. He’s done a lot of work in television.
Some folks find their niche and tend to stick around it more often. But TV seems to have a great allure for a lot of people.
I think it has something to do with more freedom to tell the story and more time to do so.
