Dear Patrick Stewart: Thanks for the All the Memories on X-Men

Dear Patrick Stewart: Thanks for the All the Memories on X-Men

I’m sure you’ve all heard the news by now.  Patrick Stewart has officially said “I’m done” with playing Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men franchise.   It looks like Logan will be the last time we get to see the bald headed mind reader on the big screen.  At 76-years-old can you really blame Stewart?   He’s been at this since 2000.   And even before that, in another life, Stewart was part of the Star Trek generation.  But I just wanted to give him a quick shout out.

Dear Patrick,

Back in 2000 no one had any clue that the humongous rise in success of X-Men would even exist.  But that’s in large part to you.  You brought professor Charles Xavier to live in a way that no one imagined.  Your amazing voice, cool and calm demeanor as well as ability to lead all your disciples proved to everyone that comic book movies deserved to be taken seriously and would eventually dominate the box office.  We’ve been through it all with you.  Wars, relationships, tears of sorrow, tears of joy, and even some laughter from time to time.

We’ll never forget just how important you’ve been to the MCU.  While I wish you’d give it just a few more movies, you’ve more than earned the right to call it quits.  I just hope that in your remaining years as an actor you can be half as entertaining as you have been as a mutant.  Keep us laughing Patrick.  We’ll miss you.
