In the unlikely event that Deadpool 2 did get rid of T.J. Miller, there’s really no option to replace him at this time. The comedian and veteran of the first Deadpool movie didn’t have the largest part but he did provide some very needed comic relief despite the fact that Deadpool is a funny movie all on its own. But thanks to sexual harassment accusations that have been levied towards Miller the idea is that he’ll be taken out of the movie just as Kevin Spacey was taken out of All The Money In The World. That however would mean that Miller might be looking at being taken out of Ready Player One as well, which would be kind disastrous because of the time needed to do reshoots and possibly find someone else.
It’s not so much that his parts are that extensive, it’s simply that he’s a welcome addition to both movies that would be hard to just get rid of and not expect anyone to notice. Unfortunately the firestorm that was kicked of after the Weinstein scandal last year has brought to light a lot of indiscretions that have supposedly been happening in Hollywood for a very long time. Whether or not all of them are true is beyond the point at this time. It’s come down to what the directors and producers are going to do about the matter when one of their actors is accused. Leaving them in the movie or TV show where they’re a prominent figure could be trouble since it would send a message that those in charge really don’t care what Miller did or didn’t do, so long as he was the right person for the film. That would be a very problematic message to send at this point and time.
The only other option at this point would be to either reshoot his scenes or perhaps edit the film until they were almost completely cut out. That would be a shame I believe since he was pretty funny in the first one and could be just as funny in the second. So far the allegations against him are being denied but in the wake of 2017 it’s hard to know who’s telling the truth and who’s lying. The reason for that of course are those that come forward without being truthful, those that make accusations of sexual harassment while looking for a payoff of some sort or to settle a vendetta. According to Miller and his wife the woman that made accusations against him was a woman he knew in college that was intent upon breaking up the relationship he had with his girlfriend at the time, the same woman that is now his wife. That alone would be a huge strike against a claim of rape of misconduct, even with the claim of friends that T.J. did as she said he did.
The mere fact that it’s become hard to know who to believe in such cases is a saddening day for humanity since honesty and integrity have gone by the wayside.
