Brooke Miller is best known for her turbulent relationship and divorce from actor Charlie Sheen. Their short lived marriage was originally a happy one but drugs led to its destruction and the destruction of both of their lives. While Sheen is apparently sober, Mueller apparently seems to struggle with her sobriety. The former actress and real estate investor has tried to stay out of the limelight and work on her recovery but a recent incident in New York’s Southampton have led some to believe she continues to struggle with drugs. 1. Latest News
It’s been a while since Brooke Mueller has been in the news. The ex-wife of actor Charlie Sheen appears to continue her trouble with drug use. According to foxnews.com and several other media outlets. Brooke Mueller was found early this past Sunday morning at a Rite Aid in Southampton acting strangely. She asked a young man for a ride home to her rental home. When they arrived it appeared that Mueller and her guests were doing drugs.
2. Born in Albany, New York
Brooke Mueller was born in Albany, New York on August 19, 1977. Her dad Allen died in a motorcycle accident when Brooke was just 12 years old. Brooke’s mom Moira remarried two years later and moved her daughter and son Scott to Florida with their new stepfather Kenneth Wolofsky, a wealthy businessman. Brooke was a cheerleader at her Palm Beach high school.
3. Troubles Growing Up in Florida
As a socialite and aspiring actress living in Southern Florida, Brooke Mueller partied and sometimes got into trouble. Aside from drinking alcohol, Mueller was taking pills, marijuana and cocaine. At the age of 19 she was arrested for a DUI in Palm Beach County after losing control of her car and hitting a road sign. Mueller was arrested again in 2001 for possession of cocaine. Those charges were eventually dropped.
4. Acting Career
Aspiring actress Brooke Mueller headed to Hollywood to try her luck at a career. She only got a few minor roles. She appeared in a short lived television series, “USA High” in 1998 and 1999’s “Witchouse” which went straight to video. Mueller appeared in 2008’s “Strictly Sexual”. She also appeared as a special correspondent on “Extra”. In 2011 Mueller appeared as herself in her friend Paris Hilton’s realty show “The World According to Paris” which aired for one season on the Oxygen network. That same year she appeared in the A & E Biography documentary about her ex-husband, “Charlie Sheen: Bad Boy on the Edge”.
5. Real Estate Career
Although her acting career never really took off, Brooke Mueller found some money in real estate investments. She flipped homes in Los Angeles’ Nichols Canyon and Los Feliz neighborhoods. In 2012 she bought, refurbished and sold a home that was once owned by the Spice Girls’ Mel B making a half million dollar profit.
6. Marriage to Charlie Sheen
Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller were introduced by friends Eric Dane and Rebecca Gayheart and hit it off immediately. They married in 2008. The following year, their twin sons, Max and Bob, were born. Things went downhill pretty fast for the couple. While on vacation at an Aspen ski lodge, Sheen and Mueller had an altercation on Christmas morning 2009. Mueller called the police and Sheen was arrested for domestic violence although he claimed Mueller was the aggressive one in the altercation. Both entered alcohol and drug rehab programs following the incident, remained separated and filed for divorce less than a year later.
7. Divorce
Both Mueller and Sheen struggled to stay sober in order to get custody of their sons. Sheen made a deal on the domestic violence charge and was allowed to attend rehab at Promises in Malibu, serve three months probation, attend domestic violence counseling and keep filming his television show “Two and a Half Men”. Mueller enter an outpatient rehab program. In the end, Sheen was ordered to pay $55,000 a month in child support, the same amount that he paid his ex-wife Denise Richards for their two daughters. In October 2010 Sheen was hospitalized in New York City after behaving erratically at the Plaza Hotel where Richards and their daughters were also staying but in separate suites. Mueller, in the meantime, returned to rehab once again. The two would continue to fight for full custody of their sons.
8. Sheen’s Famous Breakdown
It’s had to forget Charlie Sheen’s implosion during 2010 and 2011. He was publicly erratic and declared his LA home “Sober Valley Lodge”. Mueller, sober at the time, called the police who removed Bob and Max from Sheen’s custody. Mueller also filed a restraining order against Sheen. Sheen’s contract with CBS and Warner Brothers’ “Two and a Half Men” was eventually canceled. Sheen would be hospitalized again. Eventually Sheen would get sober once again. He also later admitted to being diagnosed HIV positive.
9. Custody
As both Charlie Sheen and Brooker Miller struggled to keep their sobriety, their sons’ custody remained an issue. In 2013 Mueller enter a rehab program at UCLA Medical Center to treat an addiction to Adderall. Sheen and Mueller agreed to allow Sheen’s ex-wife Denise Richardson to take temporary custody of the boys. Later that year, the Court wold grant temporary custody of the boys to Mueller’s brother Scott. Mueller was granted supervised visits with her sons and full custody was restored in 2014.
10. Mueller’s Continued Problems
Over the a past few years Brooke Mueller has continued to struggle to maintain her sobriety and custody of her sons. She’s been caught in erratic behavior and checked herself into rehab programs including the Betty Ford Clinic and Canyon Ranch. Last summer Mueller and one of her sons checked into a hotel near the airport in Spokane, Washington. She left her nine year old son alone and went to a nearby casino for an hour. In the meantime, the hotel staff did a welfare check on the boy. No charges were filed, but Mueller would stay with friends in Utah after that in an attempt to remain sober. Now, Mueller seems to have relapsed once again in Southampton a few days ago.
