Breaking Down The Handmaid’s Tale Season 2 First Look Teaser

Season 1 of The Handmaid’s Tale met with a positive response, which seems to have been helped by what a lot of people seem to see as the renewed relevance of its themes in recent times. As a result, it should come as no surprise to learn that a second season has been in production for some time, which is set to start up on April 25 of 2018. Now, a teaser has been released for Season 2 of The Handmaid’s Tale, which has provided interested individuals with some information about what they can expect.

The teaser was short in length but nonetheless packed with information for those who are interested in the series. For example, there is a scene of Offred with a gag, which is presumably something that happened following her attempt to escape from Gilead. In contrast, there is a scene of Moira living in Canada, where she has managed to escape. Besides these scenes, there is a shot of the colonies that are inhabited by the prisoners of the Republic of Gilead, which exists along with scenes of what looks like a protest of sorts, coming complete with what looks like banners being held up. Summed up, Season 2 looks as though it will be at least as dark as Season 1, though some of the shots seen in the teaser suggests that existential victories might not be wholly impossible.

What Do We Know About Season 2 of The Handmaid’s Tale?

Those who are interested in The Handmaid’s Tale might be interested to know that more information has been revealed about the upcoming season in sources besides the teaser. For example, it is interesting to note that while Season 2 will have to move beyond the source material to some extent, it will nonetheless strive to stay true to what Margaret Atwood wrote. Something that should be helped by Atwood’s extensive involvement with expanding the setting in which the series is set. Speaking of which, it has been stated that while Season 2 will remain focused on Offred, much of it will also spend time on looking more into other characters as well as fleshing out what the setting looks like on a day-to-day basis. Something that sounds mundane in nature but could provide excellent results through contrast and comparison. After all, it is much easier to dismiss something wholly unfamiliar as opposed to something that is familiar but also at the same time, riddled through and through with a sense of wrongness.

Further Considerations

Regardless, Season 2 of The Handmaid’s Tale is coming within a matter of mere months. As a result, as that time continues to approach, it seems probable that more news about the upcoming season will continue to come out. This means that interested individuals should continue to pay attention to the latest entertainment news so that they will know what it is that they want to know about The Handmaid’s Tale as soon as that information becomes available to the public. Something that is bound to happen sooner rather than later.
