Breaking Down the Full Solo: A Star Wars Story Trailer

We’ve been hearing so much about the coming film about the life of Han Solo, but not much has been said…until now! The release of “The Solo” A Star Wars Story” trailer is finally here. Lucasfilm and Walt Disney Pictures is giving us a sneak peek at what we can expect from the anxiously anticipated movie.

More background on the scoundrel

The opening scene of the teaser trailer features a very young Han Solo driving a futuristic automobile that strongly resembles a souped-up junk heap. It immediately puts us in mind of the sadly lacking Millennium Falcon that looked like a relic, but could achieve impressive speeds, that is, when it was fully operational. We learn that Han was running scams on the street from the time that he was a tender ten years old. If you hadn’t guessed it earlier, he grew up a street rat.

Humble beginnings

The teaser flashes over to Han looking up at a magnificent spacecraft and vowing to himself that he will one day be a pilot. He adds, “the best one in the galaxy.” It flashes over to Woody Harrelson in the role of a ship’s captain, calling for crew to operate the ship. Solo joins up and we see the young versions of Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian. Now the story of how the trio met comes together.

The story unfolds

We’re not given a great deal of information, but we do see Han Solo in training as a pilot. He’s making good on the promise to himself. There is a lot of action and drama. We’re given a few shots that reveal both ground battles and some pretty spectacular fights in the air. In the last bit of the teaser, we see the young Han Solo flying his precious Millennium Falcon. The show presents yet another, yet new adventure in the Star Wars saga. We get to meet some old characters when they were young. Lando Calrissian was already a notorious gambler. The first meeting of Han and Chewie, who would later become his copilot and best friend in the universe.

Cast

The role of Han Solo is played by Alden Ehrenreich, of “Hail, Caesar.” He bears a remarkable resemblance to the old Han that we all came to know and love. Lando Calrissian is played by Donald Glover of “Atlanta.” Woody Harrelson enters the Star Wars universe as a character named Beckett, who serves and Han’s mentor. Other actors appearing on the new film include Emilia Clarke, Paul Bettany, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Thandie Newton.

When will the film be released?

We’re all excited at the tiny sneak peek that the teaser trailer has given us, but we’re hoping that there will be just perhaps a little more. “Solo: A Star Wars Story” is set for release in theaters on the 25th of May, 2018. It’s just a few months away, but for anxious fans, it will seem like an eternity. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for a couple of additional trailers as the grand opening of the film gets closer.
