The Best First Kisses From TV Shows

kisses

Whether young or old, there’s nothing quite like locking lips with someone else for the very first time. And with Valentine’s Day coming up next week, we’re taking a look at some of the best first kisses that TV has ever seen, whether they were a long time coming because of the characters involved, or just because it was really inspiring to look at. Don’t forget to buy your loved ones something special Feb. 14 in order to duplicate these moments–just not in front of a camera.

5. Joey and Pacey, Dawson’s Creek

One of the most popular shows of the late-’90s and early-2000s, Dawson’s Creek made all teens imagine themselves in the exact same situations as their own lives. No more was that true when Joey (Katie Holmes) faced the dilemma of being attracted to the best friend of her then boyfriend Dawson (James Van Der Beek), Pacey Witter (Joshua Jackson). If that’s not enough, the two then had a first kiss that was both memorable and more than just a bit inappropriate–making for great TV.

4. Kevin and Winnie, The Wonder Years

OK, so we understand that this show isn’t exactly new, but that doesn’t discount the fact that it was a monumental moment for the long-running comedy. While the two were young when they locked their lips, it seemed to be the perfect age for viewers–especially given their friendship on the show. When Kev drapes her in his jacket, it showed that the kiss was a little bit more than just a one-time deal.

3. Ross and Rachel, Friends

It’s one of the best TV relationships ever, as it featured the overly attractive Rachel (Jennifer Aniston), and the geeky guy, Ross (David Schwimmer), which gave viewers a chance to relate it to their own lives–which is always a good thing. With Ross usually being the shy type–especially when it came to his feelings for Rachel–he finally went in for the real thing, opening both himself and the entire friend group up for awkwardness. Of course, the writers wouldn’t allow that to happen, and the first kiss made the two connected for the remainder of the show’s existence.

2. Sam and Diane, Cheers

It wasn’t just the kiss between the two that made this one so memorable. But it was the timing the producers had them trade saliva–in the final episode of season one, meaning the entire plot could be based around the concept of, “would they or won’t they do it again?” There’s no doubt that the kiss added more of a story to the show, as well as helping build the relationship between the two in future seasons.

1. Jim and Pam, The Office

Yep, you’re reading this right. We really think that the first smooch between Jim and Pam on the wildly popular show The Office was the best in television. With Pam engaged at the time–yet still flirtatious towards Jim–her coworker finally admitted his love for her in a moment that either could have gone good or bad. The kiss may have been just a simple thing in that episode, but it helped set the relationship and the basis of their characters on the show from that moment on.
