The cast of Behind Her Eyes delivered convincing performances that elevated Left Bank Pictures’ adaptation of Sarah Pinborough’s 2017 bestseller novel of the same title. Created by Steve Lightfoot with Valkyrien’s Erik Richter Strand as the director, the six-part limited series filmed in Scotland and London premiered on Netflix in February 2021. It follows a divorced mother of one who falls in love with her new boss, befriends his wife, and ends up in the center of an age-long web of lies and twisted secrets.
Unveiled in August 2019, Behind Her Eyes cast members include The Casual Vacancy’s Simona Brown, Eve Hewson, and Tom Bateman as lead performers, alongside Robert Aramayo, Tyler Howitt, and Georgie Glen in supporting roles. The bunch makes a well-rounded cast, facilitating a successful cinematic interpretation of the supernatural psychological thriller. Without a renewal for another season, the cast members of Behind Her Eyes are unlikely to reunite, but what have they been up to since the show concluded?
Simona Brown As Louise Barnsley
English actress Simona Brown plays Louise Barnsley, a single mom caught up in a sinister secret between a couple running away from their past. She began her career as Chontelle Brown in 2013 when she appeared as a teenage girl in the “Richard” episode of Channel 4’s Run. Her first leading role came in 2015 as Gaia Bawden in Jonny Campbell’s The Casual Vacancy. This was also the year she pulled off her feature film debut, playing Sophie in Ben Palmer’s Man Up.
The following years saw her play Roz Walters in Guilt, Faith in ITV’s Him, Tess in Bryan Elsley’s Kiss Me First, and Rachel in The Little Drummer Girl. Brown gained more exposure with Behind Her Eyes, which earned her an MTV Movie + TV Award nomination for Most Frightened Performance. Her upcoming projects include Dianne Houston’s Freedom Hair and Sean McConville’s The Last Moon. Respectively, she will star as Melony Armstrong and Ava in the drama film and horror thriller.
Tom Bateman As Dr. David Ferguson
Tom Bateman’s raw performance is perhaps the most admirable from the Behind Her Eyes cast. The English actor best known for playing Giuliano de’ Medici in Starz’s Da Vinci’s Demons debuted in 2011 as Claudio in Robert Delamere’s Much Ado About Nothing. He then played Danny Hillier in at least seven episodes of The Tunnel before landing his breakthrough role in Da Vinci’s Demons.
His other notable television roles before Behind Her Eyes were in Jekyll and Hyde, Vanity Fair, and Beecham House. And since the David Ferguson role, he has played Clive in Funny Woman and Matt Pierce in Based on a True Story. Bateman will star as Rory in Paul Goldman’s upcoming drama film, Kid Snow. It would be his first film since his 2022 roles as Bouc in Death on the Nile and Chris Jewell in Thirteen Lives.
Eve Hewson
Eve Hewson is an Irish actress who began her career in the mid-2000s when she was credited as Brenda M. Stankard for her first significant role in 2011 as Mary in Paolo Sorrentino’s drama film This Must Be the Place. Years later, she played Maid Marian in Robin Hood and Anne Morgan in Michael Almereyda’s biographical drama film—Tesla. Hewson made her small screen debut as Nurse Lucy Elkins on Cinemax’s The Knick. Her next television role before Behind Her Eyes was Anna Wetherell in The Luminaries.
After the Adele Fugerson role, she played Becka Garvey in Bad Sisters before her 2023 role in Flora and Son, a musical comedy-drama film written and directed by John Carney. Hewson’s upcoming projects include The Perfect Couple; she will star in the crime mystery limited series as Amelia Sacks alongside American actress Dakota Fanning and Nicole Kidman. She will also lead in Nia DaCosta’s cinematic interpretation of Henrik Insen’s Hedda Gabler.
Robert Aramayo As Rob Hoyle
Robert Aramayo’s inclusion in the Behind Her Eyes cast was for a supporting role as Rob Hoyle, the villain of the series. The English actor began acting at age seven but made his professional debut in 2016 as Steve “Turk” Adams in Tom Ford’s neo-noir psychological thriller film Nocturnal Animals. He gained wider recognition that same year as Young Ned Stark in HBO’s Game of Thrones and William S. Harley in Harley and the Davidsons. Aramayo has also appeared in popular productions like The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, The Empty Man, and The King’s Man. His most recent role had him play Alfred Peron in Dance First, James Marsh’s biographical film about Samuel Beckett, the late winner of the 1969 Nobel Prize in Literature.
Tyler Howitt As Adam
The youngest actor among the Behind Her Eyes cast, Tyler Howitt played a supporting role as Adam, Louise Barnsley’s child. The British actor has been active since 2018 when he played Reggie in the “Carnival” episode of Apple Tree House. After that, he portrayed Billy Costa in at least three episodes of HBO’s His Dark Materials before playing Adam in Behind Her Eyes. He later appeared as Young Max in an episode of The Rising. This was in 2022, the same year he appeared as Max Kendle in Casualty and Lord Sungerk in Lena Dunham’s Catherine Called Birdy. Other notable Behind Her Eyes cast members include Georgie Glen (Sue), Aaron Anthony (Ian), Nichola Burley (Sophie), Aston McAuley (Anthony Hawkins), and Charlotte Mills (Laura).
