This year, the Marvel TV franchise on ABC was joined by Marvel’s Agent Carter, a new series featuring one of the Marvel Universe’s greatest and most beloved characters, Agent Peggy Carter (played by the phenomenal Hayley Atwell). The series tells us the story of what happened to her after the events of Captain America: The First Avengers when she lost — until 70 years later – the love of her life, Steve Rogers (played by Chris Evans), after his great sacrifice and became an agent for the S.S.R. In Agent Carter‘s first season, Peggy acquired new allies, and one of them was Edwin Jarvis (played by James D’Arcy), who is the faithful butler of Howard Stark (played by Dominic Cooper) and is now a major part of Peggy’s journey as we head into Season 2.
TVOvermind was fortunate enough to participate in the Agent Carter Press Room at San Diego Comic-Con with other news outlets at roundtables where stars and producers from the show discussed what is coming up in Season 2. Atwell and D’Arcy were two of the people we got to talk to, and you can watch their entire roundtable interview below. Here are some of the highlights:
When asked about what their relationship is at in the second season:
D’Arcy: “We have moved. This season we will be going to L.A., so I think both of us are going to have different reactions to that. My suspicions are that Peggy is going to quite enjoy L.A. I’m not convinced that Jarvis is going to love all the sunshine. I think he may have a very British reaction to all of that. Also, Howard is trying to set up a movie studio, which I’m pretty sure Jarvis is going to take a fairly dim view of as well. I think we are going to have some fun?”
Atwell: “There is going to be lots of fun! Also, for Peggy, she is at a better place in her life. She has gotten over the death of Steve, she can finally move on and not just romantically with other people but also in herself. So there is a bit of room for her to have fun.”
Where is Peggy going in terms of being an agent in the new season: “It’s a good question. I think she has proved to herself what she is capable of. She knows her own value by the end of season one. But she is still kind of locked in to the social stigmas of the time, and she is always going to come up amongst obstacles with people that she is working with. I think that will be deepen when she come to face with a lot of personal obstacles, but she has from the first season proved something to herself so she knows she can fight a bit harder now, she will get herself some better self-confidence.”
Marvel’s Agent Carter will air its 10-episode second season on Tuesdays at 9/8c, beginning at midseason on ABC.
