Fear Street from R.L. Stine has become a more significant phenomenon than Goosebumps had been considered in recent years, with the saga being brought to life for the first time since deals were first struck in 1994 to bring the various books to life. The series was finally brought to visual media with a trilogy of films released one week apart from one another, thanks to Netflix. The three Fear Street films featured a mix of familiar and new cast members that viewers may have recognized across Netflix and various other projects across different networks and streaming services. Below, we’ve gone into detail on Fear Street by R.L. Stine, but more importantly, the cast behind the second Fear Street film, Fear Street Part Two: 1978.
Fear Street
As stated above, before it arrived as a film trilogy on Netflix, Fear Street was a book series from R.L. Stine, and a very expansive one at that, as the original series of books extended to 51 books in total. Beyond the original 51 books, Fear Street has been reprinted and re-collected a few times and was most notably revived in 2014. The Netflix series of films may have been a mix of an original adaptation and staying true to the original work it was based on the advantages of film and streaming versus the books that made Fear Street an interesting Netflix release, such as the exciting use of the Fear Street Part Two: 1978 cast, and beyond.
Fear Street Part Two: 1978 Cast
Fear Street Part Two: 1978 may have the second entry in the Fear Street trilogy, but the exciting use of the cast made the entire series stand out. The first Fear Street entry, Fear Street Part One: 1994, only made the use of the cast in Fear Street Part Two: 1978 more interesting when the plots started to collide, and names and faces started to be familiarized, to much surprise. While the first Fear Street movie followed teenagers, and other townsfolk, in 1994 as they dealt with the resurgence of an evil that had long plagued their town of Shadyside, Part Two, set earlier in 1987, followed another group of teenagers, but this time in the middle of a murder spree at Camp Nightwing.
Sadie Sink
Sadie Sink, which may be most recognized from Stranger Things, her modeling career, or beyond, will undoubtedly be the most familiar face throughout Fear Street Part Two: 1978, at least outside the cast of the first Fear Street. Sadie Sink was the lead character in the second installment of the Fear Street trilogy. However, the character she portrayed was portrayed by another to give an older appearance to the character in another time period.
Gillian Jacobs
Gillian Jacobs was the actress in question that portrayed an older version of Sadie Sink’s character in Fear Street Part One: 1994, but had a much more minor role and appeared later in the film than Sadie Sink did in comparison, and when Gillian Jacobs does in Fear Street Part Two: 1978, as part of its cast. Gillian Jacobs could be recognized for her roles in the television and film projects Community, Girls, and Hot Tub Time Machine 2.
Emily Rudd
Out of most of the Fear Street Part Two: 1978 cast, Emily Rudd has the least behind her, but she had landed some exciting and somewhat monumental roles already, such as Electric Dreams and The Romanoffs, but her most monumental role maybe with the upcoming One Piece adaptation from Netflix. Interestingly, a role Emily Rudd had alongside Cole Sprouse was one of several Warner Bros exclusives to be wiped from HBO Max this month.
Ryan Simpkins
Ryan Simpkins may be one of the least known actors among the Fear Street Part Two: 1978 cast, but that may be due to their roles in less known projects, but there has been a quantity of Simpkins acting roles. However, the most notable roles of the actor could be considered their roles in Twixt and The House, but they have been acting since their film debut in 2008 with Sherrybaby. Although they have acting credits that extend further than most of the main cast of Fear Street Part Two: 1978, Ryan Simpkins may be remembered most notably for their work in Fear Street.
Fear Street Part Two: 1978 Other Cast
Other cast members from Fear Street Part Two: 1978 include Jordana Spiro, Ashley Zukerman, Kiana Madeira, Olivia Scott Welch, and Benjamin Flores. However, those cast members could be most recognized, at least to recent Fear Street viewers, as cast members of the first installment, Fear Street Part One: 1994. Much like Sadie Sink, but with different installations of the Fear Street trilogy, the characters listed that appear in Fear Street Part One: 1994, as well as Fear Street Part Two: 1978, also appear in their own context in the final installment of the Fear Street trilogy as well.
