The Best Uses of Staind Songs in Movies or TV

Right now it seems really uncertain as to what will happen to Staind since their front man Aaron Lewis is off doing country music and has said that the band will never tour again. They might make another album but if they’re not touring then at least one or two members of the group think that this might be the end of them. One can only hope that’s not the case since back when they started they came out with a sound that was absolutely iconic and made them into what they are today. However it’s not the first hiatus they’ve taken but it could be the last and final one that does them in. Again, let’s hope not since Staind has been one of those bands that has seemed to be a mainstay in rock for over two decades and is one that people have come to look forward to hearing from now and again.

Here are five of their best songs that have shown up in movies and TV.

5. WWE Tribute – So Far Away

It’s kind of hard to equate the lifestyle of an entertainer with that of a US soldier despite the fact that entertainers in the WWE go all over the world just as the troops do at times. The major difference of course is that WWE stars don’t do any of the fighting but they do occasionally go over and help support the troops by boosting morale and putting on a good show for them to enjoy. But the life of a WWE star is still one that’s kind of tough since they’re on the road so many days out of the year and are constantly busy trying to come up with ways to make the business run more efficiently and to keep it running at all.

4. Transformers: Dark of the Moon – The Bottom

There seems to be a feeling that the next Transformers movie in line, Bumblebee, needs to somehow redeem the franchise, as it’s been in a downward spiral since the second movie came out. But in Dark of the Moon there is the feeling at least that things were progressing in a way that made a little more sense considering the fact that the war between the Decepticons and Autobots was starting to move forward once again and the stakes were getting even higher as earth became a staging ground for the next major skirmish that would take place. The inclusion of Sentinel Prime was one massive step that some liked and some thought was pointless, but having Leonard Nimoy voice the character was sheer brilliance.

3. Staind – It’s Been A While

It’s kind of difficult to think of Aaron Lewis as a country singer since quite honestly he seems so well-heeled as a rock star that the transition doesn’t make a lot of sense. But he’s been going solo in that direction for a while now and it would seem as though it makes him happy, so fighting it kind of seems like a pointless gesture. Still, the whole act of putting the band on hiatus doesn’t really seem to be sitting well with the fans since if a band stays on the shelf for too long the chances of getting back together doesn’t really bode well. If they don’t keep making albums it could be the end, and a lot of people don’t want that.

2. Smallville – Fade

Smallville was a show that was meant to show the origin of Superman before he became the man of steel and it did pretty good but it also became kind of a soap opera for those that wanted a lot more backstory on the guy in order to fully understand him. This could have backfired in a big way but it seemed to placate a lot of people that didn’t know enough simply because they didn’t read the comics. When you think about it though it might have been better for a lot of people since the comics tend to become rather convoluted as they get handed to one writer after another and have to be written over and over to try and develop some continuity.

1. Staind – Outside

In terms of where this song has showed up it seems like a lot of people might have felt this way about the show Lost. Those that weren’t wholly invested in it had to hear about the show from various sources and only catch snippets of what was happening while scratching their heads and wondering what people were talking about. You know what? That’s perfectly okay since a lot of folks were doing the same when Game of Thrones came around and people started talking about Westeros, White Walkers, Dothraki, and a hundred other terms that meant something to GoT fans and no one else.

Let’s hope Staind decides to make another album or two at least before calling it quits.
