Supertramp was a renowned English rock band of the 1970s. It was founded in 1969 in London. Initially, their style of music was categorized as the progressive rock but later started to incorporate a mix of pop, rock and art rock. One reason that motivated increased use of Supertramp Music in Movies was the incorporation of radio friendly and conventional elements. The 1999 drama film uses the Supertramp’s song Goodbye stranger as a soundtrack in the scene involving Donnie Smith watching What Do Kids Know? the show hosted by Jimmy. The song breaks out when he is still in the car and goes on until he is seated. When he is served a drink by the attendant, it stops. Bits of the song can also be heard when the bartender leaves and another bartender leans low to whisper something to a reveler.
Red Band Society Season 1 Episode 3
Supertramp’s song goodbye stranger soundtrack is played in the 27th minute when McAndrew tries to make reconciliation with Eva and Jordi. Jordi together with his mom takes part in a poker competition while Dash, Kara, and Leo watch on. They are later joined by Emma before the song stops.
Divorce Season 1 Episode 1
In the very first season and the first episode of this family comedy, the Supertramp’s song Just Another Nervous Wreck is a central theme song. A middle aged couple is trying to figure out just if their marriage is really worth saving at all after a shocking event that happened at their friend’s birthday party which leaves them reflecting hard at their own lives. A snippet of the track begins at 2.11 and persist in isolated instances the rest of the episode.
Southland Season 1 Episode 1
The American crime drama series has one incidence of Supertramp appearance. At the very beginning scene of the first season and first season, the Show begins with a Supertramp’s hit soundtrack School. The scene appears to be a crime scene with heavy police presence and yellow barricades as they try to collect evidence of a homicide. Thereafter, John Cooper, a veteran Los Angeles cop is assigned to training Ben Sherman who later questions if he is even a real cop.
Freaks and Geeks Season1 Episode 10
This 1999 and 2000 TV series has several soundtracks in this particular episode of the first season. The Supertramp’s song Take the Long Way Home is used at the scene where Lindsay leaves the sleepover to joins her “deplorable” friends. Apparently, her parents forbid her from chilling out with Kim who they think has some bad influence on her. Bill eventually gets tired of being selected last for the baseball team in the P.E. class and not even being allowed to take part in the competitions. He sets out to do something about it.
