Here’s Why Black Panther Will Be Unlike Any Other Marvel Movie

Chadwick Boseman to star in Marshall

Say hey all you Marvel fans and geeks around the world, I can imagine just like me you about lost your mind when T’Challa showed up in full outfit in Captain America:Civil War, right? It’s been one of the biggest teases for the longest time but when Chadwick Boseman showed up onscreen with the iconic suit it was a jaw-dropping moment for sure. If you’ve ever read the comics and followed the stories then you know that Black Panther is no joke and can contend with a good deal of those that should by all rights turn him into cat food. But we saw when he went up against Bucky and Cap that he can more than hold his own.

So why is this solo film going to be one of the best the Marvel has to offer? Here are a few reasons you might like.

It’s release comes in February.

Normally a release in the early months of the year means that a studio doesn’t have much faith in the movie and are just trying to get it out and get it noticed. Not this time. Black Panther is coming out during Black History month, which the studio is counting on to resonate with a large part of the audience. Plus, the comic book character debuted in 1966, during the Civil Rights Movement. This is a good strategy as it showcases the perfect hero at perfect time.

The setting is immaculate.

Forget about any thoughts of mud huts and simple villages or even urban sprawl and high rises amidst a desert backdrop. The fictional nation of Wakanda is a technical marvel that rivals most other sets in the MCU. The best thing about it is that it exists in the same world that the other superheroes inhabit, and it’s completely unknown. From the roaring, majestic waterfalls to the hi-tech look of the city this place is simply stupendous and begs for more in-depth discovery.

The cultural significance.

Black Panther is THE first black superhero. He came before Luke Cage and Falcon, and he even predates a few black DC heroes. Believe it or not he even came out before the actual Black Panther Party organized itself. His cultural significance is that he is the embodiment of power and strength for the African American people, a symbol of hope that things are in fact capable of changing.

The females in this film will not take a back seat.

Ever notice how other women in the MCU films, aside from Black Widow, seem to be unable to do much? Jane Foster, Darcy, Pepper Potts, even Scarlet Witch is pretty hesitant at times until she decides to let loose. In this film that won’t happen. The women are as  fierce as the men and in fact, the king is defended by an all-female group of bodyguards that are just outright fierce. Plus his sister is a genius on par with Tony Stark that knows how to fight, so it won’t be wise to assume that these ladies will be playing second fiddle.

Black Panther is set to blow Phase 3 of the MCU wide open as he leaps onto the screen. We’ve already seen that he’s a force to be reckoned with in Civil War, but in his own country and with nothing to hold him back it’s going to worth the wait to see what happens.
