The proverbial Pandora’s Box is about to be opened in the suspenseful first season finale of Suits. Mike’s secret is revealed thanks to a certain childhood friend, and Harvey tries to fix what he’s done to Clifford Danner when he put him behind bars twelve years ago for a murder that he didn’t commit. It certainly was a change to see Harvey work so hard to win the case instead of having everything handed to him on a silver platter.
Viewers were rooting for Harvey to win the case, despite several suspense-filled moments where it seemed all hope was lost. At least things worked out in the end when Clifford was finally released from prison as a free man at the end of the episode. It was a perfect climax to what had been an amazing Suits season 1 and cliffhanger for the anticipated Suits season 2.
Suits Season 1 Episode 12 Highlights
One notable highlight of the final episode was Harvey apologizing to Donna, albeit reluctantly because he has a reputation to uphold. The icing on the cake was Jessica implying Harvey’s life would be a mess without Donna there to organize it. When Mike walked towards Harvey’s office, he saw the older lawyer discreetly hand Donna the infamous can opener. Up until this point, it’s still uncertain what the opener is used for.
In one of the scenes, Donna came into the associate’s break room and figured out that Rachel was hung up about Mike. It was nice watching Donna and Rachel bond over it later at night in Harvey’s office. The love-sick paralegal was amazed that Harvey had all these autographed baseballs and basketballs on display in his office. Then, viewers were in awe as Harvey used the 1998 crime thriller Mississippi Burning to get one of the two guys who were testifying against Clifford to confess to the crime. Nice going, Harvey, nice going!
Then, there’s the part where Trevor found out, indirectly, that Mike was seeing his ex-girlfriend Jenny behind his back. All hell let loose when Trevor answered Mike’s phone (which he tends to forget) while hanging out at Mike’s apartment was just too much. It’s good that Trevor decided to turn his life around, but he didn’t need to go to Pearson Hardman and spill the one secret that would cost Mike his job. Understandably, Trevor was extremely angry that his best friend, the one person that has been with him since they were young boys, would date his ex-girlfriend. However, he should’ve confronted Mike and Jenny about it instead of stabbing Mike in the back.
All of the events only helped build suspense for what’s to come in the next season. With several cliffhangers, audiences cannot wait for mid-June 2012 for Suits season 2. Did you watch the final episode of Suits season 1?
