Most people recognize her from her time playing the clueless, but loveable Haylee Dunfee on the hit show Modern Family. However, she’s done more with her career since the show ended after ten successful seasons. She hosts the hit reality show Love Island and makes love matches. She loves what she’s doing with her life, and things are going so well for her. However, it seems fans know so much more about her work than her personal life, and we think it’s time to change that.
1. How Old is Sarah Hyland?
We truly watched her grow up on television. She was born on November 24, 1990. She’s the epitome of a 90s baby, growing up all ten years of the decade. She’ll celebrate her 32nd birthday in 2022. She was born and raised in New York City. Her family lived in Manhattan her entire life, and she went to school in the city.
2. Is She Married?
No, she is not married. Yes, she is engaged. She began dating former Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise star Wells Adams in 2017. Their relationship is adorable and sweet, and they are engaged. However, they did not get to marry as they originally planned. COVID canceled their wedding, so to speak, and they are allegedly getting married in 2022. They recently celebrated a bridal shower, so we have high hopes they’ll walk down the aisle.

3. She’s Classically Trained
She’s a trained actress. She attended the Professional Performing Arts School in Manhattan growing up, and it allowed her to learn so much. She knew acting was a large part of her future, and she wanted to be prepared to take it on when she had the chance. She’s been acting most of her life, and it’s gone well for her to obtain her education in the arts.
4. She Started Acting at the Age of 7
She was seven when she landed her first role. She portrayed Howard Stern’s daughter in a 1997 movie called Private Parts. She went on to star in many other television and film projects aside from her role in Modern Family. She played the daughter of Brooke Shield’s character in the television adaptation of Candace Bushnell’s Lipstick Jungle, among many others.
5. She is Jackie O.
She’s not actually Jackie O., but she played the role. She was the young actress who played the young first lady on Broadway. Grey Gardens was performed on Broadway in 2006, and she was young Jacqueline Bouvier in the production. Stage acting is difficult, but she made it look so easy.
6. She Was in an Abusive Relationship
Despite her always sunny disposition and a good attitude, life has been difficult for the young actress. She’s lived through difficult stages, and she’s a fighter. She spent four years with actor Matt Prokop. They met on the Geek Charming set, dating from 2010 until 2014. In the summer of 2014, she sought a restraining order against him on the grounds of verbal and physical abuse over the course of their relationship. She put up with it until she could no longer live with it. It was difficult for her, but she came out much stronger on the other side.

7. She Suffers Health Problems
When her doctors told her she suffered from kidney dysplasia, she was only a child. Since birth, she’s had 16 surgeries, including two kidney transplants. Her father was her first kidney donor, but the kidney failed. So her brother gave her a second kidney, and she takes medications and works daily to ensure that this kidney does not fail. She’s occasionally put on bed rest because of her health. It’s difficult for her to gain weight and put on muscle, and she’s sometimes weak.
8. Her Mental Health Suffered Tremendously
Due to her health, obtaining kidneys from her father and brother, and being sick so often, she was suicidal at one point. She felt like she was a burden to everyone in her life, and she was miserable. Physical health problems that are ongoing like her own often manifest mental health issues, and she is not an exception to the rule. She struggled, and it’s been difficult for her over the years.
9. She Can’t Believe Peacock Didn’t Fire Her
Of filming the show she’s hosting now, she said, “The people on it are very, very, very sexy human beings. I could not stop staring. I thought HR was going to have an issue with me. Could not stop staring at the contestants”. Of course, we laughed when she said this to Jimmy Fallon because she’s equally sexy and lovely, and everyone was likely staring at her in return.
10. Her Brother is Also an Actor
Did you know she’s not the only actor in her family? Her younger brother, Ian, also acts. He’s the baby of the family. He’s approximately four years younger than his sister, but they are close. He is also a world-class dancer and a master of kung fu. He’s won championships for both.
