Kelsey Grammer is, to some people, kind of a pretentious-looking person largely because of the roles he’s played and the prim and proper individual he’s always been on screen. But in truth he’s kind of that way but he’s also a very fun person to be around it sounds like so long as no one intentionally tries to tick him off. In movies and in film he’s been a joy to watch since he brings a level of class to any production that’s instantly noticed and appreciated, even if he isn’t always the same kind of person that you’re used to from Frasier and Cheers. His roles have been varied throughout the years and yet he’s even gone towards productions that you might not have expected, such as a small part in The Expendables 3. But no matter where he shows up Grammer is the kind of guy that makes his role work within the film or the show to great extent.
Here are a few things about Kelsey you might not have known.
10. He spent a couple of weeks in the Betty Ford Clinic for substance abuse.
It seems as though there are a lot of celebrities that go through this process from time to time, though thankfully Kelsey is not one that seems to do such a thing habitually. Now and again some celebrities do get a little too rowdy in their lifestyles and need to be straightened away. It does seem as though he learned his lesson in this regard though.
9. A few of his family members were killed in rather unfortunate ways.
His father and his sister were both murdered which is both tragic and hard to take, but two of his stepbrothers were also killed during a shark attack while scuba diving. Kelsey has lost a good deal of family in ways that are hard to avoid.
8. He’s spent 30 days in jail for violating probation.
You can’t disregard probation when you’ve got a DUI on your record and expect to not get some sort of punishment as a result. Celebrities might get away with a lot but occasionally they do get held accountable just like the rest of us.
7. At one time he said he would want to run for public office.
This would be kind of interesting to be honest since he plays such a well to do man in film and TV. Just seeing him in an official capacity would be enough to set some people off however, though if one remembers, Ronald Reagan was an actor at one time as well.
6. He provided the voice for the original GEICO Gecko.
Does anyone remember this? He did provide the first voice for the little green gecko, but apparently GEICO wanted to go in another direction. You can’t say it didn’t work either way since people have loved watching the commercials for a while now.
5. He’s been Frasier Crane on four different shows.
Those shows are Cheers, Frasier, Wings, and The John Larroquette Show. A few of us might remember the last two shows since they were still on while we were growing up, and Frasier was still someone that a lot of people enjoyed since he was one of the last remaining parts of Cheers.
4. Kelsey is a big Star Trek fan.
To be honest though he’s a fan of the original series, though he has starred with Patrick Stewart in the Next Generation. For some people the original series is always going to be the best since it had some of the most classic characters.
3. He was considered for the role of Jafar in Aladdin.
Kelsey was considered for the animated film back in the 90s just to keep you from getting confused. His voice though seems like it would have been kind of wrong for Jafar since it’s not quite sinister enough for the royal vizier and definitely too warm for someone that had a kingdom in the palm of his hand at one time.
2. He was a dishwasher at Denny’s a long time ago.
It’s always nice to know that celebrities weren’t born with silver spoons in their mouths and had to earn their way up to where they’re at now. One thing Kelsey has to say is that you don’t really know how important being a dishwasher is until you’ve actually done the job. Past experience to lead a lot of people to agree with him since washing dishes is often looked upon as a less than ideal job, but it’s one that a lot of people still don’t want to do themselves. So dishwashers are pretty important.
1. Kelsey thought, initially, that Frasier should have been left behind with Cheers.
This might shock a lot of people since Frasier being given his own show was something that seemed as though it would have been pounced on by Kelsey. But originally he thought that the character should have been left with the show that made him.
You can call him pompous or pretentious but quite honestly he seems like a nice guy.
