The Craziest, Funniest, and Best Mexican Soap Opera Scene of All Time

I didn’t really expect to laugh so hard at a soap opera, even a Mexican one in which the English subtitles are being literal and downright hilarious, but I really had to stop laughing so hard so that I could type. The craziest American soap opera is still not this wild and out of control and that’s saying something since America has the WWE as part of its most popular programming. Yes, get over it, WWE is a male soap opera with just a tad more action in between the ridiculous story lines, and we all know it by now.

But this almost looks like a bad version of a slasher film that never really got off the ground. Or maybe a Mexican version of Fatal Attraction. Anyway you put it this show just looks bad, ridiculously bad, so ridiculously bad that it’s hilarious in fact. Just how bad does a show need to be before it becomes a comedy? I mean really, where do I start?

Nandito is a naive young man that seems to think that marrying the young woman in the wheelchair will make everything right, and then he even thinks that they’ll be able to find a doctor that will be able to make her walk again. Then it just gets downright silly.

Alicia wants him to say that he loves her a thousand times, which of course means saying it twice emphatically.

Then when the wicked witch of the show walks in she completely flips her lid as she sees Nandito kissing Alicia on the cheek. And from there it just gets straight up disturbing. Not only does this woman somehow overpower a fully grown young man and a middle-aged woman, but then she goes berserk and starts abusing a wheelchair-bound young woman that can’t defend herself. And would you think it would stop there. Nope, not even close.

There’s a party going on while all this is happening and rather than just call the cops and get the crazy lady hauled off to jail it’s kept very hush hush as Nandito and one other man, along with Esperanza, the middle-aged woman, attempt to keep this shrieking Mexican harpy off of Alicia. She even goes so far as to kick the chair over at one point, and nearby the party-goers are standing there, watching. One of them even pops something in her mouth, perhaps a piece of gum or something equally unbelievable as she stands watching in shock.

Nandito gets stabbed at some point and the party guests just keep watching. When the crazy woman gets hauled away she starts spouting threats that she’ll kill anyone that tells on her, all the while still holding onto the scissors that she stabbed Nandito with. For much of this clip I was somewhere between laughter and silent shock as I tried to figure out if the plot was meant to be this horrible or if it was the first day on the job for most of these folks.

I thought American soap operas were bad, yikes.
