Why Zoey Deutch is Far and Away the Next “It’ Girl

After reading just a little bit about her I would now argue that Zoey Deutch is not the new ‘It’ girl, at least not be her choice. In terms of her acting talent it’s already being proven that she can hang with some of the best, but the term ‘It girl’ doesn’t inspire her or even strike her as appealing. She’s too much of a free spirit to consider herself in such a term and might actually rebel against it if she was labeled in such a way. Granted, she’s a rising star and might one day rival even the best of them, but she’s also a down to earth young woman that doesn’t want to be labeled and hasn’t yet seemed to be tainted by the Hollywood that has claimed so many careers to this point. My hope would that she be true to who she is at all times and buck against the system as much as possible while still working to change it. But having seen what this has done to so many idealistic actors it’s hard to say that it won’t happen to her at least once in her lifetime. When it does happen, not if, then hopefully she’ll know to get back up and keep going.

Among the many different women that are in show business at this time there is bound to be a shift in talent eventually and Deutch could be right there on the forefront when it comes to cashing in on a prime moment for her own meteoric rise. Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone, and any other young star at this time have had their rise and their moments and would do well to recognize that it’s about time for another few newcomers to take the spotlight and run with it. It’d be wise for every one of those famous actors in Hollywood to realize that their time is fleeting and that new talent will always be coming up through the ranks. After all, even they were the new blood at one time just waiting for the changing of the guard so to speak. The passing of the torch is something that’s been interesting to see throughout the years, particularly when the older actors seem either hesitant or reluctant to give way. The new tend to supplant the old, but Deutch is just a bit different. She wants to work with the old, she wants to do what she can to be the best actor she can be, not upstage someone else.

The mere fact that she doesn’t want the title of ‘It girl’ is why she’s already so great. By rejecting that label she allows herself to grow and not pin her career on when she became the hottest commodity in the film industry. She strikes me as the type of person that would stroll onto a set and chat up the crew if her other cast members weren’t around just so she didn’t have to listen to the silence all on her own. That to me says star, legend, and possible icon one day.
