Young and the Restless fans are all kinds of crazy, and they love their favorite characters. They love them so much they are willing to see them come back from the dead more than once to terrorize their enemies and to make us all feel good. We have a long list of people we’d love to see come back from the dead whether we loved them or hated them — they just made Genoa City so much better. But, we often forget that this is not a show that is made up of only the characters we see and remember. There have been hundreds of men and women who showed up and came to town with the focus of getting their own lives to work out, and they didn’t. And then they were gone, but they might not have been all that great. These are some of the worst characters to ever show up in Genoa City.
Austin Travers
He was here recently, and he didn’t seem that bad at first. He was interesting enough to catch Summer’s attention, but he didn’t make it any longer than that. He didn’t have what it took to be a man who would stick around and make a name for himself, and that was too bad. He was good looking, but he didn’t do that well when he decided to turn himself into a hostage taker. He didn’t have the stuff it took to be a bad guy, and he came across as almost comical in his attempt to be a bad guy. We didn’t take him seriously, and the writers of the show were clearly aware of the fact that we didn’t take him seriously. They didn’t keep him around much longer after that. He ended up dead less than a year later, and that was not something we thought was a real shocker, either. He won’t be back from the dead, we’d have to assume. He wasn’t good enough to make a comeback at all.
Kelly Andrews
The problem wasn’t the character. The problem was the actress who took over in the middle of this characters newness. She was too new in Genoa City to really go through a recast, and it didn’t do her any favors. You see, she was good when she showed up at first. She had some things to share, some things going for her, and she was good. But that didn’t last at all. She was in the middle of things that were major when she was recast, and the actress who took her over was too much of a difference. The new actress is a wonderful actress who did a stellar job, but the character had too much change with the actress, and that was her eventual downfall. The character simply could not handle the difference at that point in her life, and there was not much anyone could do about that at the time. it’s not uncommon, but it was just her bad luck it happened around this time.
Abby Newman
Okay, so, she’s not gone. But we do have to say that we do like Abby. The problem is that she’s just not all that great. She’s great, we mean, by the way of her actress and all that, but we just feel that the writers of the show don’t really do her much justice. She’s constantly living the same life, but it’s not an interesting one. You see, some characters always live the same life over and over again a new day but the same issues — think Sharon and Nick and Phyllis and Victoria and Billy and Cane and Lily — but Abby never got a good story. She ends up with total loser men, she’s always being kidnapped, she’s always upset with her sister and her brother and her stepmom doesn’t love her, and her father doesn’t respect her, and she’s kind of whiny about it sometimes. We need for writers to get in there and really just fix that for us. We want so much more from her because she is such a phenomenal actress, but they just won’t give us more. We think she can handle it, but will they do it?
