From the reactions I’ve seen and heard with regards to the trailers, posters, and production images of Wonder Woman, I’d say over 50% of people out there are looking forward to seeing this film. Gal Gadot released a stunning poster over the weekend and we also got a chance to see an “origins” trailer featuring Wonder Woman as a little girl. The movie is definitely cranking up the heat on the marketing front as its release date draws closer.
However, that’s paid marketing. These are all the official marketing materials that the studios are putting out themselves. There’s also a huge fan contingent that’s help marketing the movie free of charge and in some cases proving to be more effective than paid campaigns.
One such piece of free marketing just came out recently and I happen to be a big fan of it. It’s the official Wonder Woman trailer spliced with the song “Dirty Diana” by Michael Jackson. Simply overlapping the song with the trailer might seem easy, but if you watch this closely you’ll see that it’s extraordinarily well timed and took a fair amount of skill to implement.
