Wonder Woman 3 Story is Already Planned Plus a Themyscira Spinoff Movie

Patty Jenkins isn’t wasting any time is she…. She’s also not handing out a lot of details as you might expect since all we know at this point thanks to Ryan Scott of MovieWeb is that there will be a Wonder Woman 3 and an Amazon-produced spin-off with  Themyscira in mind that might make people wonder just what’s going to happen with Diana’s homeland and how it might factor into the DCEU since as Ryan states it’s true that we haven’t learned a whole lot of it from the movies. The spin-off might be able to let us know just what’s going on with the island and grant a little more detail when it comes to how the place came to be and whatever other details we’re missing. As far as the Wonder Woman 3 movie we likely won’t learn that much until another year or so unless someone gets the rumor mill going and confirms that Steve Trevor won’t be in part 3, as well as any other pertinent information. Then there’s the idea as to whether DC will really stick with the standalone movie idea or if they’ll continue to try integrating their movies into one big epic spectacular that will start pitting them against a real threat that could possibly give them all a run for their money. After all with Shazam, Joker, and the other movies that have been released, and word of a Mera spin-off and and another Aquaman movie, there’s bound to be some crossover eventually unless we’re being gifted a look at the many infinite earths in a new and confusing way.

When you look at her list of enemies it’s not a short list, but it’s shorter than many since she seems to share a lot of formidable enemies with other heroes. There are a few that could be used in a convincing way for another movie though, and if Steve Trevor isn’t there, as Kevin Burwick of MovieWeb mentions, then there’s another dimension to Diana that will have been added thanks to his loss or removal. There’s going to be a very long discussion in the months to come concerning what Wonder Woman 3 might entail, and it’s a bit surprising that Patty Jenkins would bother stating that she had the story in mind since this far out there’s always the possibility of changing many things and there’s even the unfortunate possibility of the project being shelved if the next movie doesn’t perform in the manner that Patty and many others are likely thinking that it will. If Wonder Woman 1984 does manage to turn a healthy profit at the box office then the third installment shouldn’t be much of an issue, but that level of confidence, while nice, is still working against the idea that sequels just don’t do that well when they’re pitted against the originals. Wonder Woman was a great movie and it came out in a time when it was truly appreciated since it empowered women in a big way but it also tended to rub some people the wrong way.

As a hero, Wonder Woman is great since she shows women and girls all over the world that female superheroes can be every bit as tough and as meaningful as their male counterparts, and this is a great message to any woman that needs to feel a bit of strength now and again and can take inspiration from the hero. But the ‘girl power’ feeling that the first movie and possible the second movie have elicited does tend to irk some folks, and not just those that feel as though their masculinity has been threatened. It’s very easy to ignore this idea since she’s been an established hero for a long time and as a goddess is bound to be one of the toughest heroes in the DC lineup, but there are always going to be doubters and haters along the way that can’t help but have their say, no matter how negative it might be. She did come in on the premise of showing the male-centric comic book world what could be done if a woman was put in charge of a situation, and with common soldiers she proved to be a true boon to the war effort in the first movie. With the Justice League she even took charge though her effectiveness took a couple of serious hits before the league finally came together and started working as a team. Whatever expectations we have for Wonder Woman it has been seen that in different hands she does manage to slip up now and again, which like it or not is nice to see since being untouchable doesn’t make for a great superhero. Yes, Jenkins did have her being beaten by Ares in the first movie, but if you thought she was in any real danger then you might need to read up on the formula that these movies follow so often.
