I’ve been watching Joseph Gordon Levitt since he was in the movie A River Runs Through It. He’s practically been on screen his entire career and yet he seems like he’s completely on the straight and now. I personally think that 500 Days of Summer was his coming out party and since that film he’s been a superior star. Not only does he have incredible dramatic skills but JGL is hilarious as well. And let’s not forget he knows how to entertain. Ever see this guy on Lip Sync Battle? There’s pretty much nothing this guy can’t do.
Now he’s throwing his hat into the directing ring for the second time (he directed and starred in Don Jon) and I see no reason why he won’t prosper there either. He’s currently in negotiations to direct an R-rated musical comedy for Universal Pictures called Wingman, which he’s already set to star in alongside Channing Tatum.
According to Variety, the story follows “two pilots who crash-land in Las Vegas. According to sources, the film is in the vein of Pitch Perfect meets Book of Mormon, with the dup covering Top 100 hits with a touch of adult humor.”
The movie was pitched by none other than Michael Bacall, the writer for 21 Jump Street. While I’m not a musicals kind of a guy, I see no reason whatsoever why this movie wouldn’t be hilarious. I don’t think you can go wrong with Joseph Gordon Levitt and Channing Tatum working on the same project.
