Since Prince Harry announced that he was marrying American actress, Meghan Markle, there have been all types of rumors and backstories building in anticipation of the wedding. There have been multitudinous rumors floating around suggesting that the Queen is not at all happy with the pending union. Many believe that the Queen is not happy with the fact that Harry is marrying an American – an American with an African American heritage.
One of the most shared rumors is the fact that while former U.S. President, Barack Obama, has been invited to the wedding, sitting President, Donald Trump has not. When you understand Prince Harry, who is the most like his mother, Princess Diana, this does not shock you in the slightest. Harry does not adhere to a lot of the Royal protocols that the Queen holds so dear. He is definitely a renegade in that aspect.
While the complete list of those attending the wedding has not been released to the public, one exciting bit of news is taking social media by storm. While appearing on “The Real,” Mel B, a former member of the famed British pop group, the Spice Girls, let the cat out of the bag that the group will be performing at the wedding. First of all, Harry is completely burning the British Royal protocols. I am a fan of the Spice Girls, so this is not a knock on them. I was expecting a heavy dose of Elton John, but the Spice Girls?
As it turns out, the group is reported to have already inked a deal that will have them front and center of the elaborate festivities associated with the Royal Wedding. This comes on the heels of the news that the group has inked a deal for their reunion tour that will take place in the UK and in the U.S. What a way to kick off a reunion tour that many people have been begging for years.
Now, I am almost certain that this news was not supposed to be released to the public this early in the game, but it seems that from the moment that Mel B entered the stage of the “The Real” she was brimming with something she could not wait to get off of her chess. When they started talking about the upcoming wedding between Harry and Meghan, she became even more excited. If I didn’t know any better I would swear that she was the one getting married.
Eventually, she was asked if she knew anyone who was attending the wedding, and she nodded her head in the affirmative. From there it just came spewing out. Now the world knows that the Spice Girls are going to rock the house and the Royal Wedding. Mel follows her news with the statement, “I don’t know if I should’ve said that!” Probably not Mel, but what the hell, it is done now.
I am still waiting to get my invitation in the mail. I am sure that it is just tied up in the high postal volume at the USPS. You know how it is. But in the meantime, I am going to enjoy imagining the look on the Queen’s face when she gets wind of this.
