What Will We Get From Kilgrave on Jessica Jones Season 2?

The second season of Jessica Jones is being filmed at the moment. As a result, it should come as no surprise to learn that there have been some interesting pieces of news released over the course of the filming. In particular, it is interesting to note that David Tennant has been spotted on the set for Jessica Jones, which has important implications for Season 2.

What Do We Know About David Tennant’s Presence on the Set for Jessica Jones?

David Tennant is the person who played the supervillain named Kilgrave, who possesses the power to control the minds of other people. As a result, the character is a rather unpleasant person who inflicts enormous suffering on other people on a regular basis, not least because having had his power since childhood has rendered him incapable of forming normal relationships. Suffice to say that Kilgrave had an enormous impact on the titular character of the TV show not just in the past but also in the present of the setting.

With that said, David Tennant’s presence on the set is rather odd in light of the fact that Kilgrave should be dead. After all, Jessica Jones managed to get her hands on the supervillain in the final episode of Season 1, which had rather fatal results for said individual because while he might have had the power to control minds, he had nothing that could enable him to survive her superhuman strength. In other words, David Tennant’s character should be dead, which makes his presence on the set for Jessica Jones that much stranger but also that much more interesting.

At this point in time, there is not enough information to say for sure what David Tennant’s presence means for Season 2 of Jessica Jones. However, there is more than enough information to support some speculation, though whether they will turn out to be right or not is a wholly separate matter. First, it is possible that Kilgrave somehow managed to survive the situation with Jessica Jones’s hands wrapped around his neck. Certainly, it is something that happens on a semi-regular basis in the comic books, but since Jessica Jones as a TV show tends to shy away from superheroics in preferences for a more noirish feel, that seems improbable to say the least.

Second, it could be that Kilgrave’s power has somehow enabled him to leave a non-physical imprint on his victims. Once again, this is something that would fit right into mainstream superhero comics, but the overall tone of the TV show makes its inclusion rather uncertain. Third, Kilgrave could be a mental image rather than some remnant of the supervillain, which would be connected to Jessica Jones’s complicated reaction to the killing as well as all of the things that have happened to her and other people because of Kilgrave’s abuse. This is supported by a statement that Season 2 will be exploring the titular character’s feelings about what has happened, but ultimately, it remains to be see exactly what David Tennant’s presence on the set means for the TV show.
