What the Hell is Wrong with Stacey Dash?

While Kevin Burwick of MovieWeb only sheds a little extra light on the whole issue with Stacey Dash, it’s a bit obvious that all is not well with the former Clueless star when it comes to her home life. Only days ago Dash was arrested after trying to implicate her husband in a domestic disturbance dispute, which ended with her being booked and released on a $500 bail. There were no marks on Dash it seems but her husband had scratch marks all over his arms and it was apparent that Dash had been guilty of assault, which kind of tells one side of the story at least. It’s not certain just what happened to cause this or why it would seem that Dash has gone a little nutty, but as always there are a couple of sides to any story no matter how bad each of them can be.

Unfortunately as Amy Kuperinsky of NJ makes it seem a little worse when it comes to Stacey’s side since the body cam worn by the responding officer managed to pick up the officer asking Dash what she did for a living and finding out that she was an actress at one time, as well as a Fox News correspondent. Actors have attempted to push this idea more than once when being arrested either because they think it can get them off the hook, or because their fame will somehow impress the officer and allow them to think that arresting a famous personality is not in their best interest. Or it could be both since honestly some famous, or formerly famous faces seem to think that their past roles and possibly fading celebrity status can get them out of trouble. One thing you can say for Dash though is that she didn’t seem to bring this up until it was mentioned, so there’s nothing to say that she was actually trying to use whatever status she still has to get off the hook. Dash’s claim that she was defending herself kind of falls flat when it appears that her husband, who she said was attempting to choke her, is the only one that has any marks on his body. Typically if someone’s trying to choke you there are marks to be seen, especially if one is using the kind of force that another would think warrants self defense.

It’d be nice to say that we should believe Dash without question and state that she was in fact just trying to defend herself. The whole idea of ‘believe women’ would likely rail against any opinion that had to do with the kind of doubt that arises when trying to explain how her argument for self defense falls apart the moment she tries throwing her fame around. The whole idea of being attacked is horrible, but quite honestly when it sounds as though her husband’s 15-year old daughter ‘got in her face’ according to a source, the argument starts to shake and wobble a bit. A kid got in her face? What happened then? Normally if a kid gets in your face it’s time to restrain yourself and back away while trying to calm the kid down lest a person do anything foolish. But it would also bring into light why she might think, or why it might happen, that her husband would decide to assault her. It’s not right by any means but if there was an altercation with his daughter it might be that he was attempting to, in a less than acceptable way, protect his daughter.

That’s all guesswork unfortunately since the tape that’s been released shows Dash in a very different light as she seems near to tears as she’s being cuffed and led away. Some would say this would be time for sympathy and to hope that Dash is doing alright, but until the full details are released it’s kind of hard to do or say anything that’s not speculative and in some way, hopefully, balanced enough to lend doubt to either side as to their innocence or guilt in this matter. You can imagine that a lot of people have already picked a side and are likely firmly against Dash or trying to find a way to exonerate her for this matter. The amusing part in all of this is that if she is the guilty party she nearly played it up quite well by acting calm and contrite with the police, while at the same time obviously attempting to state that she was the one being wronged. When you don’t have a mark on you and accuse someone that has your marks on them however the ballgame changes just a bit as the damning evidence can make such a matter lean well in the favor of the other party. If events unravel in an interesting way it might bear more explanation down the road.
