My wife and I love to travel a lot, 3 years back we decided to get married and take our own pre-wedding photos in different locations around the world. With our tight budget, it is impossible for us to hire a photographer to follow us on our travels. So we decided: why not do it ourselves?
We bought two sets of wedding gown, my wife, Zhu signed up for makeup lessons to do makeup herself, and I bought a decent camera with a few lenses, and most importantly, a tripod.
It took us 3 years to travel around 5 continents: Asia, North America, Oceania, Europe, and Africa. Most of the photos were taken by using tripod and remote, others were taken with a little help of our travel companions along the journey. Photos were shot on different climate and terrain, we created our albums in exotic Islands, world heritage sites, caves, snow, and dessert, even in the Himalayan mountains.
It’s pretty challenging to shoot wedding photos ourselves, and we do encounter some difficulties in some of these locations, but most of the time, it’s fun. The result might not be as stunning as hiring a professional photographer, but the process of accomplishing these photos together, just the two of us, made these photos precious and memorable to both of us.
