What TV Duos Should be on The Amazing Race?

The Paley Center For Media Presents An Evening With "Bones"

The Amazing Race started out as a Summer show when it aired in 2001 on CBS. After the show gained popularity, it was moved to the fall schedule and now features two cycles each television season. There have been many familiar faces that have participated on the reality show including Big Brother alumni Brendon and Rachel and former NFL players Chester Pitts and Ephraim Salaam. Have you ever thought how awesome it would be if your favorite TV couples, friends, or family members participated on the race?

Here is our list of what TV Show duos would be perfect for the next cycle of The Amazing Race.

The Reality Show Team – Hayden and Nicole from Big Brother 16

Over the course of The Amazing Race’s run, a team featured on a reality show will usually make an appearance. Since The Amazing Race appears on CBS,the contestants will be from the network’s other reality shows: Survivor and Big Brother. The latest cycle of Summer hit Big Brother featured the showmance of Hayden Voss and Nicole Franzel. Since the show has concluded, the two have made their relationship official. Both proved to be worthy competitors during their time on Big Brother, so they would be great to watch on The Amazing Race.

The Mother Daughter Team – Frankie and Sue Heck from The Middle

This year has been labeled the “Year of Sue” on The Middle. Sue (Eden Sher) will be graduating from high school so she is trying to save money to be able to attend college in the fall. Sue should become a contestant on The Amazing Race and take the prize to pay for her tuition. Mother Frankie (Patricia Heaton) would make the perfect partner. Though she tends to lose things, she would be able to keep Sue on track so they could win the $1 million prize. Sue even wanted a car so bad she entered a contest where the person whose hand last left the car would win it.

The Father Son Team – Homer and Bart Simpson from The Simpsons

Bart Simpson (Nancy Cartwright) is only 10 years old, so he would not be old enough to participate on the race. However, he has been 10 years old since 1989, so he really is 35. Homer (Dan Castellaneta) and Bart would probably be eliminated early on during The Amazing Race. A lot of that would be because of Homer’s poor lifestyle choices. But there is always the chance that the underdogs could take home the $1 million prize. They could use the cash and take another trip to Itchy and Stratchy Land. That is if they reopened it after the robots went crazy.

The Gay Couple Team – Cam Tucker and Mitchell Pritchett from Modern Family

Every season, The Amazing Race is sure to include a gay couple. Who better to be that team than Cam (Eric Stonestreet) and Mitch (Jesse Tyle Ferguson) from Modern Family. Mitch, being a lawyer, would be the half of the team that could take part in the intelligence competitions. Cam has a background in playing football so he would fare well with the physical obstacles. They also would not have to worry about who would be able to watch Lily since they have such a big extended family that would be sure to step in and let the couple compete on the reality show.

The C0-Workers Team – Alicia Florrick and Cary Agos from The Good Wife

Once Alicia (Julianna Margulies) wins the State’s Attorney race and Cary (Matt Czuchry) is found innocent of the charges that are currently being brought up against them, they will need to take a break from the chaos going on at The Good Wife. The two would make for worthy competitors based on their education. Plus, Alicia and Cary are in pretty good shape so they would perform well during the physical competitions as well. The pair could use the winnings towards the costs of Cary’s trial and maybe even keep some to go on a much needed vacation.

The Married Couple Team – Seeley Booth and Temperance Brennan from Bones

Fans rejoiced when Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) tied the knot last season on Bones. The newly weds should take a break from solving murders at the Jeffersonian and compete in The Amazing Race. The couple should have no problem solving any of the complex puzzles that teams often encounter during legs of the race. Plus, Booth is in amazing physical condition from all of his training to be in the FBI. It may be hard for Brennan to make nice with the other teams, which could be a downfall if a team needs to decide who to choose for a U-Turn.

The Dating Team – Mindy Lahiri and Danny Castellano from The Mindy Project

I can just picture how this would work on an episode of The Mindy Project. Mindy (Mindy Kaling) will be reading celebrity news online and see an open casting call for The Amazing Race. She screams for Danny (Chris Messina) to come into her office. He is less than thrilled at the news. Mindy is able to coax him into applying after she tells him he does not want to apply because he is too scared he will end up getting beat by another team. Since Danny is super competitive he agrees. The two will probably due miserably after Mindy realizes the race is harder than it looks.

The Siblings Team – Dennis and Dee Reynolds from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia

I do not think anyone would say that Dennis (Glenn Howerton) and Dee (Kaitlin Olson) Reynolds are a sure bet at winning The Amazing Race, but they sure would be hilarious to watch. Hopefully, the two can pass the mandatory drug test before even getting on the show. In order for Dennis and Dee to get what they want, they usually end up doing something illegal to make that happen. Just picture them trying to mess up a Detour for another team and then when they make it to the pit stop Phil will have to scold and disqualify them for breaking the rules.
