The Top Uses of George Harrison Songs in Movies or TV

If you don’t know who George Harrison is go do a quick history review of rock and roll and then come on back. He was considered to be ‘the quiet Beatle’ but was the lead guitarist for the group and one of four influential young men that set the music world afire with their voices and new and exciting sound. When George lit out on his own in the late 60’s it was as though a wellspring had suddenly opened, allowing all of his ideas to come spilling forth into the world. As a Beatle his contributions to the lyrics of the band had been kind of limited since there were three other guys that wanted to do their thing as well. When the band finally split though he’d already had two solo albums that he’d put out. Once on his own he struggled a bit after his initial success but he never went away thankfully.

That would have been a fate undeserving of a rock star of his caliber.

5. This Is Us-All Things Must Pass

Created to show the struggles and triumphs of the Pearson family this show was one of 2017’s most talked about and continues to be the favorite of many. The issues and controversies that the family must deal with on a continual basis are very real and are easy for people in the real world to relate to on a personal level.

4. American Made-Wah-Wah

It’s funny how an agency that has Intelligence in the middle of its initials seems to work on exactly the opposite sometimes. After hiring a TWA pilot to work on a covert mission the efforts of the CIA nearly become the undoing of the Reagan era in the United States and are credited with starting up one of the most vicious and ruthless drug cartels to ever become a threat to anyone.

3. Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2-My Sweet Lord

In the first film people got to learn just how special Peter Quill is, in this one they got to learn why. Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 was a way to advance the story at the expense of at least one very monumental character that no one wanted to see gone despite the fact that he’s one of the most miserable characters in the movies. Still, he is entertaining when he brings his arrow to bear on his enemies.

2. American Idol-Something

It seems that a lot of Harrison’s more sentimental songs made it shows like American Idol whereas his more fast-moving and fun songs made it to movies and TV dramas. Maybe it’s just the tone and the setting that make people pick these songs out, but at least on American Idol you know that his song is going to get the attention that it really deserves. This is after all where people are at their best to make sure their chance is secured and proper homage is given to the songs they choose.

1. George Harrison-Got My Mind Set On You

I remember watching this video as a kid and thinking it was something too awesome for words. The way everything moved along with the music and the cool way he just sat there strumming the guitar was something I happened to have enjoyed immensely.

Rest in peace sir, you are a true legend.
