Selecting the best movie trailers of 2017 is a very subjective process as anyone should know. What I put on this list isn’t reflective of what SHOULD be on everyone’s minds. It’s what I personally think is one of the best gatherings of the assorted movies that have been released this year and did a fine job of backing up the promises that were made in the process. Now I know that some people might disagree with a couple of these choices but like I said, it’s all subjective and at this point it’s my choice. These are movies that I feel delivered on what they promised for the most part, even if there were a few slips and trips along the way. If nothing else they set the audience up beautifully and got them into the theaters for a thrill ride that was bound to be at least somewhat enjoyable.
If you have any others you feel were more worthy I’m always willing to listen.
5. Logan
Logan has seen better days. Not only was the metal grafted to his skeleton poisoning him, but his healing factor had started to falter and fade. Add onto that the fact that he’d taken it upon himself to care for an aging and seizure-prone Charles Xavier and his life was going downhill like a speeding bullet. But then he meets a little girl that’s exactly like him, and life seemed to take on a new meaning, at least after a while.
4. Thor: Ragnarok
It’s been a time to do away with the old and begin anew, but not without conflict. When the fire giant Surtr initiates Ragnarok Thor’s home is destroyed, forcing him and the many surviving Asgardians to find a new home that might welcome them and take them in. Before that however the action is almost non-stop in this new and very exciting film that reshaped Thor’s corner of the MCU.
3. Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Like I said, new beginnings. Luke Skywalker’s reaction to Rey wasn’t entirely expected but it was easy enough to understand if you’ve read the books and come to realize just what Luke went through in his life. It might have been done a little too quickly but the promise of development was there if the director was willing to use it. Give this movie a few years and Star Wars fans will likely embrace it as they did The Empire Strikes Back.
2. Wonder Woman
Just like the other movies when it came to the source material, Wonder Woman wasn’t without some controversy. The movie was well done but the ending battle and the manner in which she was introduced to world of humanity was still laden with a lot of questions and not enough answers. Plus the last scene of the movie was just a bit confusing.
1. IT
IT delivered more than many of the movies this year since the film touched upon most of the source material that it came from and added a bit that the 1990’s TV version did not. The only gripe I can recall hearing about this movie was that people didn’t expect it to be a 2-part feature. It seems that a lot of people don’t remember how long a story IT really was.
Like I said if you think of any others that needed to be mentioned let me know.
