The Top Five Bobby “The Brain” Heenan Moments on TV

If you were a wrestling fan in the 1980’s then you saw some of the best of Bobby “The Brain” Heenan that was ever aired. He was one of the greatest wrestlers, managers, and color commentators of all time and was probably the most beloved bad guy of his time. Let’s make no mistake his character onscreen was kind of a jerk sometimes as he tried to gain every possible advantage that he could for his wrestlers. But that was what made him so great, he was such a heel but he was one of the best heels in the business.

However since 2002 he’d been battling throat cancer which would eventually cause his health to deteriorate over the years. At one point it became tongue cancer, and Heenan started dropping a lot of weight. By the end, when he was surrounded by family, he passed away due to organ failure brought on by his long battle with the original cancer.

He will be greatly missed by a large number of adoring fans that can remember “The Brain” when he was at his very best.

In memory of Bobby “The Brain” Heenan here are some of his finest moments.

Bobby with the Brooklyn Brawler

There was a time when the Brooklyn Brawler wasn’t as much of a running joke as he was near the end of his career. In this skit you can see Bobby apologizing to another wrestler before slapping him across the face, at which point the Brawler shows up and finishes the job.

On the Dennis Miller Show

You can hear the difference in his voice at this point as he speaks to Dennis Miller. He’d lost a lot of weight at this time and this wasn’t too long after he’d been inducted into the Hall of Fame. He looked like he’d seen better days at this point but he was still willing to speak about his days in the business.

The Hall of Fame

This is a tribute to one of the greatest managers the WWE has ever and probably will ever know. Since the role of the manager has all but disappeared from the show it’s likely that Heenan will go down in history as the absolute best.

Giving a shout out to Gorilla Monsoon

For all that he acted like a heel Bobby Heenan was a man possessed of a good heart. When his partner on the show, Gorilla Monsoon, passed away he was deeply shaken and could only express his deepest regards for the man.

The Gimmick Battle Royal 2001

This match was an oldies but a goodies kind of match where all the older talent was allowed to come out and strut their stuff once again in a one man take all Battle Royal. Heenan got to call this match with none other than Mean Gene Okerlund.

Bobby Heenan was among the best that the WWE has ever seen, and he will be sorely missed. Rest in peace sir.
