The Best Uses of Travis Tritt Songs in Movies

It seems a lot of country singers were turned on to music at a young age and through their church in some cases. Travis Tritt is no different since he was taught from a young age how to play and encouraged to do so throughout his life. You could say that he kind of had a typical upbringing when it came to his parents urging him to do what he felt was necessary and become a big country star. You could say that, but you’d be wrong. His mother actually felt that he should be writing and singing Christian songs while his father didn’t think he’d make it anywhere as a country singer. That’s the kind of belief that can either beat a person down or fire them up and inspire them to do great things. In Travis’ case it’s allowed him to push hard enough to win several awards in his time and be regarded as one of the greats in his genre.

Here are a few of this songs as they’re used in movies and TV.

5. Forever My Girl – Slowing Down

Having a shot at happiness and having a shot at fame and fortune is a tough call for some people but it’s not something that a lot of folks would gladly choose between since your heart is far more important than your reputation and wallet. But when Liam returns to his hometown after leaving his fiance at the altar no one wants to see him, not even his father. In fact it’s safe to say that he’s kind of reviled by those that he should matter to the most. When he finds out he’s a father however life kind of takes an awkward turn that he wasn’t expecting since coming home was, to him, something that needed doing.

4. The Ranch – It’s A Great Day to Be Alive

The Bennett family is not exactly the close-knit bunch you would think they could be since Colt and his dad don’t get along and Rooster just barely gets along with anyone. There is a bond that unites them throughout the show but at the same time it’s about the only thing that keeps them together since otherwise they can’t stand one another for various reasons. Colt is the irresponsible, flighty individual that never thinks before he acts while Rooster is the responsible one that resents having to be that way. And then there’s the parents that are a shining example of why their boys are the way they are.

3. Sgt. Bilko – Only You

Sgt. Bilko is perhaps the worst example of a military officer to ever come on screen or be conceptualized since he gambles, he drinks, he flaunts the rules, and of course he’s utterly hilarious. This movie was intended to be a comedy all along if you weren’t quick on the uptake since it’s Steve Martin and, well, Martin really only does comedy and drama exceedingly well. But given these parameters he’s a gas every time he’s on screen and fun to watch since he knows how to play up a moment and make it seem like one of the funniest and most important scenes in the film. The critics didn’t really agree, but oh well.

2. Honeymoon in Vegas – Burning Love

There’s something about Las Vegas that, in the movies, makes people do truly insane things. Jack loses a humongous hand to a notorious gambler and has no other way to pay it back then to allow his girlfriend/fiance to spend the weekend with the gambler, provided they don’t have sex. While trying to win her back Jack goes through a great deal of trouble and a few misadventures that eventually see him getting on a plane bound for Las Vegas with a group of flying Elvis impersonators as they plan to skydive over the Vegas strip. If overcoming your fears to win the love of your life back isn’t romantic then what is?

1. My Cousin Vinny – Bible Belt

You don’t often look at Joe Pesci and think that he’d be that tough of a guy. Even in Goodfellas and Casino he was kind of hard to buy as anything but a guy with a serious Napoleon complex. But in this film he weaves enough comedy into the act to make it feasible to take him seriously and he even seems to have a good time doing it. When he’s called by his cousin to stand as his attorney in a murder trial he’s way out of his league to start with, but upon actually learning how to conduct himself in a court room and with the help of his girlfriend he finally finds a way to vindicate his cousin and get them off the hook for a crime they didn’t commit. Plus there’s a lot of laughs along the way.

It’s a good thing Travis did his own thing when it came to music.Steve Martin
