General Hospital fans are the biggest fans in the world when it comes to certain characters. These are people who watch their stories for years at a time, grow up with the characters, and they make it their life mission to get things handled accordingly. We love the fans of this show, and we can see why they love the show so much. For one, we are certain this is the show that created the bromance. Now, we know you might argue, but we think this is correct and accurate in every manner. There is a couple here on this show — two gentlemen — who are closer than anyone we’ve encountered in our lives. They do what they can, they love who they do, and they are the best of friends. They put the bro in bromance.
Sonny and Jason
Jason wasn’t always a mobster bad boy with a tough exterior and a serious attitude about life. There was a time when he was a young man with everything in life going for him in the direction of king of the world. He was a good student, a respectful young man, a great child, a good family member, a great athlete, and everything he could do well, he did do well. And then he was in an accident. You see, his older brother could not quite get the hang of being as awesome as Jason, so he was drunk driving one night when he caused a tragic accident. Without sharing all the tragic, sad details of this situation, we can say that it was ugly and things didn’t go well at all.
Jason ended up with a form of amnesia that caused him to forget that he is a Quartermaine. He only remembered Emily and his grandmother, Lila. He was not ready to go back into a world where he didn’t know his family or anything like that, so he took the name Morgan from his mother and he rolled with it. He said goodbye to his Quartermaine name and he created a new name, a new family, and a new situation for himself. And he and Sonny became besties.
They have since been in one another’s lives for good and bad, through thick and thin, and in sickness and health. They will do anything for one another, and the women in their lives have not always understood that their bromance basically trumps anything else in their lives. They are a couple of men who love one another so much they can’t help it, and their friendship is everything gorgeous and special in the show. In fact, we can’t even imagine the show without them and their love for one another, and we hope to never have to. It’s clear to us they cannot live without the other.
Jason and Carly
We don’t know if it’s because Carly is Sonny’s wife and Jason will literally do anything and everything for Sonny, but the man will do anything for her. He is always there for her in thick and thin, and he’s been there for her even when her own husband was not. Recently, she was accused of pushing pregnant Nelle down a flight of stairs and trying to kill her. We all knew she did not do this and that Nelle was just a crazy monster, but everyone thought she did because she’d been acting all kinds of crazy.
Well, we also all knew that her crazy was coming from what Nelle was doing to trick her into thinking her dead son, Morgan, was still alive and well and calling for her from some place he could not escape. But when her family doubted that she was telling the truth that she was innocent, Jason did not waver in his firm belief for a moment. He was there for her. He got a job where they had her locked up. He helped her escape. He did all that because he believed in her and he was the only one.
And that is what makes their friendship such a gorgeous one. They are the epitome of having one another’s backs, and that doesn’t waver. We love it, and we want to see more of it in the future.
