For people who can’t be bothered to pay attention to the people associated with President Donald Trump, Steve Bannon was the chief executive of his presidential campaign and then the chief strategist at the White House. Given his position as Breitbart as well as his connections to racists, sexists, and xenophobes, it should come as no surprise to learn that he was seen as the head of the far-right faction in the Trump administration. As such, Bannon’s standing took a serious blow when Charlottesville happened, which resulted in his ousting.
With that said, Bannon leaving the White House isn’t something that happened in an instant but has instead been building up for some time. For example, it has been reported for some time that Trump has been irritated by Bannon’s high media profile, which presumably wasn’t helped by Bannon’s sometime casting as the puppet master behind the president of the United States. Furthermore, Bannon gave an interview in which he criticized his opponents within the Trump administration by name while contradicting the Trump administration’s policies, which is not the sort of thing that reflects well on presidential administrations. There are conflicting reports about whether Bannon was fired or made a free choice to leave, but whatever the case, he left the White House to return to Breitbart as its executive chairman.
What Has Steve Bannon Being Doing Since Leaving the White House?
Since Bannon left the White House, most people have been focused on his relationship with Trump and the Trump administration. After all, while he did not take aim at the president, he did make some comments towards his opponents in the presidential administration at the time of his departure, meaning that there was plenty of opportunities for political drama. So far, Breitbart does not seem to have take a serious stance against Trump, but considering how a significant percentage of Trump’s supporters reacted in response to the news of a potential DACA deal with the Democrats, it remains to be see whether that will last.
With that said, it is interesting to note that there are also reports that Bannon wants to make movies. Granted, Hollywood has a reputation for being liberal, but Hollywood executives have never let their supposed liberalism get in the way of their profit-making, so it should come as no surprise to learn that there are reports that some of them are interested in hearing him out. After all, the election of President Trump suggests that there is a sizable base of potential customers for whatever sort of movie that Bannon would come up with, which would appeal to movie studios looking for new sources of revenue.
Of course, this has the potential to turn into a hilarious disaster because Bannon’s previous efforts have been interesting to say the least. For example, there was the attempt to make a rap musical out of the L.A. riots. Furthermore, there was what was supposed to be an erotic retelling of Titus Andronicus in space, which seems rather strange considering that Titus Andronicus is often considered to be Shakespeare’s bloodiest and most violent play. Sure, there is no such thing as a premise without potential, but the poorer the premise, the more skill is needed to turn it into something worthwhile, so much so that it could well be an insurmountable obstacle.
