Not that anyone’s counting but yesterday marked day 50 of the Trump Presidency and as Stephen Colbert’s audience began to laugh, the Late Show host interrupted them to say “it’s not a joke yet.” When Colbert finally got into his “joke” he remarked about one of Trump’s signature projects: building a border wall for Mexico. In fact March 10th marked the deadline for contractors to submit their design proposals.
Trump’s wall has been a topic of controversy ever since the idea was mentioned to the public. Most lawmakers, citizens, and pretty much everyone in the world except for Trump thinks that the wall idea is absurd. And the $30 billion price tag that it’s estimate to cost isn’t exactly helping matters either. Colbert decided to dedicate a good 6 minutes of Late Show airtime to discussing the wall and how it’s going to be implemented. Needless to say the explanation isn’t pretty. But just to make sure everything goes right, Stephen got out there in the trenches with a panel of experts to discuss this ever so unimportant project.
Watch Stephen discuss Trump’s border wall plans and costs with an architect, an engineer, an interior designer and a concrete guy.
