The Reason Why We Never Saw a Sinister 3

Whatever happened to the Sinister film series? By all accounts, most people seem to be happy with the way the first movie came out. As far as horror movies go, it was one of the more critically acclaimed pictures out there and fans seemed equally satisfied with it. The movie has a somewhat different plot line, something that is hard to come up with in a horror film. More often than not, horror films are nothing more than reproductions of each other with different characters. This one took an entirely new approach and fans seemed appreciative of it.

These days, anything that even manages to do relatively well at the box office gets a sequel. As a matter of fact, it’s not at all unusual to see somewhere between five and 10 sequels after a movie initially gets the attention of audience members who are willing to pay the price of a movie ticket. It wasn’t any different with Sinister. The sequel to the movie was released and by all accounts, most people probably thought that this was yet another series that was on its way to making several more movies within that particular universe.

Eventually, die-hard fans of the series started to wonder what happened. Nobody really talked about it and the third movie never showed up. It turns out that it is highly unlikely that a third movie ever will be made. There are several reasons for this. The most important reason is that the sequel to Sinister was a huge disappointment at the box office. It didn’t make nearly enough money and this basically settled the whole idea of ever making a third movie, largely before it ever got started.

There are a lot of reasons that people don’t really like the second movie. They changed the way the movie was filmed so that it doesn’t really feel like a horror movie. Instead, it feels too cheesy to be scary. They also took the mystery away. The first movie didn’t point the viewer in any clear direction until the very end. When the end came, viewers were shocked and horrified to learn who was really doing all of these terrible things. In the second movie, everyone already knows and if they didn’t, it’s painfully obvious even in the first minutes of the film. It’s no longer fun to watch because you feel like you already know what’s coming long before the movie ever gets to the end.

Does that mean that Sinister 3 will never happen no matter what? You have to remember, this is Hollywood. People change their minds as fast as most people change their socks. The thing that is a hot commodity today is something no one wants anything to do with tomorrow and the reversal of that statement also applies. There’s no guarantee that someone won’t come along in the future and decide that they want to completely refurbish the whole idea about Sinister, effectively making a brand new third movie. With that being said, no one has come forward to do that as of yet. For now, it doesn’t look like the project is going to happen but who knows what will happen a year or two down the road.
