Coming this fall Shania Twain is going to be hosting a country music competition series titled Real Country for the USA Network. The outspoken Canadian country star is one of the most legendary country singers to ever take up the mic and will be seen as a valued member of the show when it comes to USA. That being said the show will be in effect like another talent show that will feature groups and individuals that will be vying for the chance to become the next big breakout star in the country genre. It’s bound to be a lot of fun and get people on board with their favorites as the contestants start rolling out to show what they can do.
Despite all that however the above article seems poised to discuss just what Twain had to say about voting for Donald Trump had she cast her ballot.
Twain originally said this:
“I would have voted for him because, even though he was offensive, he seemed honest. Do you want straight or polite? Not that you shouldn’t be able to have both. If I were voting, I just don’t want b******t. I would have voted for a feeling that it was transparent. And politics has a reputation of not being that, right?” When it was seen that her words manged to anger a few people however she pulled back on her statement and went on to say that she didn’t give her words enough thought before speaking them aloud. Some people have been mollified by this explanation but others are no doubt still harboring the kind of grudge that seems to go with being a Trump supporter that can’t let things go. It’s not wrong or right on anyone’s part at this time since the words have been said and she has apologized. What that means is that it’s time to move on.
It’s time instead to focus on the idea that is the reality show that she’s going to be co-hosting with fellow country star Jake Owen, and to imagine just what kind of talent is going to come rolling onto stage once things get kicked off. There’s been a great number of shows such as this in the past decade and a lot of them have seemed the same in many regards, and country is no different. There are different judges, slightly different rules at times, and different formats that are run to keep things just dissimilar enough to avoid copyright issues, but for the most part each and every show that’s come out in the last ten to twenty years has been a giant talent show that’s bent on making someone into a star. The most interesting part, or one of them at least, is that a lot of people have gone on to stardom of some sort without ever having to win.
Some people might say that invalidates the entire contest, but really it seems to make it that much more interesting since unless a person bombs out completely there’s still a chance that someone might offer them a contract. Of course it couldn’t help if they impressed the judges first.
