Ever dreamed of making your own video game? Well this isn’t quite the same but it’s still a cool effect that someone decided to attempt. Taking the front right quarter of a Toyota Celica GT-Four this person managed to create a driving game that is simply too good to be true. The simulator is hooked up to a console that has been carefully crafted to look exactly like the real thing so as to give the player the sensation that they are actually driving along the track at high speed, experiencing the feel of the road as they steer from the driver’s seat, navigating as they normally would in a real-world setting. From it’s original beginnings the simulator doesn’t look like much, but as you look through pictures you’ll see that it eventually becomes something uniquely impressive.
The TV monitor is mounted to the wall so that it can be swung around to fill the windshield view and give the driver the idea that they are actually in the game. The steering wheel and the built-in suspension have been skillfully put together to give the best possible experience and insure that the driver will feel every turn and bump the game has to offer.
When the game is over and the driver’s done the TV can be folded back against the wall without any fuss. This is a well thought out and skillfully crafted simulator.
The attention to detail is amazing really. This proves that some fans are more than willing to go above and beyond when it comes to their gaming experience. The body work along on this section of car had to have been a lengthy and somewhat costly experience. Not to mention the fan would have had find all the right parts and either find help or tend to the assembly themselves.
The black walls to the right and behind the driver grant just enough cover that the gaming experience is almost absolute as the main focus remains the screen so that the driver will be able to enjoy the thrill of the simulation without any outside interference.
The only possible way to improve on this design would be find a way to block out the rest of the room so that the view of the screen would be 100% unobstructed. Honestly though this effect is simply astounding and more to the point it’s been done with such great attention to every detail inside and out that there really isn’t anything to complain about.
Apart from a few obvious details that couldn’t be included in a simulator this fan has gone around the bend and back to make certain that this simulator is about as accurate and spot on to the real deal as it could be. The length to which some gamers will go to heighten their experience is quite impressive at times. One can only guess at how much time, effort, and money this endeavor actually took. To the gamer however it’s no doubt worth every penny.
