San Diego Comic-Con: The Man In The High Castle’s Alexa Davalos On “Exciting”, “Surprising” Season 2

Alexa Davalos

At San Diego Comic-Con, I had the chance to sit down and chat with the actors and producers from some of my favorite shows. During the press room for Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle, I was able to talk to Alexa Davalos (Juliana Crain) about her experiences working on the show, and get a brief taste of what’s coming in Season 2.

Season 2:

Davalos was a big fan of Season 1, but how the next season differs is fairly simple. Davalos says that “it’s really kind of broadened a level”. While Season 1 focused on building the world and establishing the rules, Season 2 goes deeper with the characters and story to make everything fuller and richer.

Asked about her character’s journey, Davalos was mum about all things Juliana. “Juliana is in a place that I certainly can’t discuss because it will just ruin everything.” Hey, at least she’s looking out for the viewers and their experience, am I right? You can’t say that about every star.

Fortunately, she was able to offer us something. Like High Castle’s first season, the second has been “very exciting and very surprising”. Though, it will have to work hard to beat the twists from the last episode of the first season.

For further comparison, Davalos said that Season 2 is like a “springboard” that they can go many places from, and sets up many things yet to come. Given what we already know about Season 2’s alternate realities, there seem to be lots of interesting places it could go.

Life On Set:

Davalos also had the opportunity to briefly talk about her on-screen family, and what things are like on set. All indications are that working with her fake family feels a lot like working with her real family.”We have a really beautiful family unit,” Davalos said.

She acknowledges, however, that someone from another show may have told you this. “I know a lot of actors say that,” she acknowledged, “but this is different”.

We couldn’t get much more from her as she was whisked away to her next table, but it was an absolute pleasure to speak with her about Season 2, and learn a little bit of behind the scenes info.

My theory: Juliana must be heavily involved in the alternate realities. That seems the most logical reason for Davalos’ secrecy. Again, just a theory, but I think you may have read it here first!

What do you guys think? Are you more or less excited for Season 2 now? What are your Season 2 theories? Let us know in the comments!

The Man in the High Castle returns with its second season in Fall 2016 on Amazon Prime.
