People who are familiar with kids’ TV shows from the 2010s might be familiar with Rowan Blanchard. This is because she has been in a number of kids’ TV shows since her acting career started up, which are in addition to a number of movies aimed the same audience as well. For example, Blanchard appeared as a member of the main cast in a number of episodes of Dance-a-Lot Robot, which is one of the kids’ TV shows that was broadcast on Disney Junior. Likewise, she appeared in a 2015 Disney Channel Original Movie called Invisible Sister, which was based on a book in which a student turned her sister invisible when she messed up a science experiment. With that said, Blanchard might be better-known to most people because of a couple of other projects that she has been involved in so far. One example is Spy Kids: All the Time in the World, which stands out because it was the fourth installment in the Spy Kids franchise. Unfortunately, a fifth installment was never made for a wide range of reasons, including the fact that Blanchard had other commitments. This leads to the next example, which is Blanchard’s role on Girl Meets World.
Given the name, it should come as no surprise to learn that Girl Meets World is a spin-off of Boy Meets World. To be exact, Girl Meets World is set some time after Boy Meets World, seeing as how Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence have had a daughter named Riley Matthews as well as a son named Auggie Matthews. As a result, Girl Meets World bears a fair amount of resemblance to its predecessor but is focused on Riley Matthews, who is played by Blanchard. On the whole, the TV show had a fair amount of success, seeing as how it started up in June of 2014 and finished up in January of 2017 for a total of three seasons.
What Is Rowan Blanchard Doing in the Present?
Although her most successful project so far might have come to an end, Blanchard has not been idle. For proof, look no further than some of the projects that she has been involved in in recent times. One excellent example is 2018’s A Wrinkle in Time, which was based on the 1962 book of the same name. In it, Blanchard played the part of Veronica Kiley, who was not a particularly important character in the movie. Furthermore, A Wrinkle in Time was not particularly successful from a commercial perspective, seeing as how it failed to make back its combined production and marketing budget of $250 million. Still, A Wrinkle in Time was relatively high-profile in nature, meaning that the role was still significant to some extent.
Besides A Wrinkle in Time, Blanchard is involved in a TV show called The Goldbergs, which has been described by some as a period sitcom. This is because the TV show is set in the 1980s, which is when its creator Adam F. Goldberg grew up. As a result, this is something that sets The Goldbergs apart from a lot of the other sitcoms that can be found out there, seeing as how it has a much firmer foundation in reality than most examples. Regardless, Blanchard plays the part of Jackie Geary, a recurring character who showed up in the TV show in the fourth season and has continued making appearances ever since then. Her character isn’t a main member of the cast. However, it would be overstating the case to say that she is unimportant, seeing as how she plays the part of Adam Goldberg’s girlfriend. In turn, Adam serves as the narrator of the TV show, though he is actually played by two separate people in the “past” and in the “present” of the narrative.
Further Considerations
Summed up, it is clear that Blanchard’s acting career is continuing on. It is still too soon to say whether she will manage to make a smooth transition from being a child actor, but assuming that she continues to appear in the sort of projects that she has been appearing in recent times, it seems reasonable to speculate that she has a real chance of success in this regard. As a result, it will be interesting to see what happens in her acting career from this point forward, particularly since Blanchard seems to have an interest in activism as well.
