Shonda Rhimes is an American television producer who is also a talented screenwriter and author. She is known for creating some of the most popular television shows of the past and is still churning out big hits. She has been keeping us entertained with her flair for delivering what the audience most wants to see with great story lines that help us to connect with the shows that she helps to create. 5. “The Writers Room”
Shonda has appeared as herself on this television talk show that featured Jim Rash as the host. She also served as executive producer. Although the series only lasted one season from 2013-2014, it was an enjoyable show. Rash brought the head writers and creators of prime time television shows that received critical acclaim to examine the mental processes of the writers responsible for bringing the stories to life.
4. “Gilded Lilies”
Shonda served as executive producer for this television movie that was released in 2013. The story was set in 1895 New York City and it centers around the opening of New York City’s very first luxury hotel. It served as a brilliant display of what occurred between the different classess of people which includes the family rivalries that occurred, the scandalous secrets that were kept, co-minglings of the classes, the conflicts, treachery, love and snobbery that happened during that time.
3. “Private Practice”
This television series was a spin off of the hit series “Grey’s Anatomy.” The series focused on the life of the neonatal surgeon Addison Montgomery, played by Kate Walsh. The series ran for six seasons between 2007 and 2013. It followed along with same lines that its predecessor does and was popular enough to last for six seasons before the series was cancelled. This was yet another success for Shonda Rhimes.
2. “Scandal”
We couldn’t leave out one of Shonda’s best works and that is the popular television series “Scandal.” The show stars Kerry Washington in the lead role as Olivia Pope. She’s the lady that you call when you get into trouble. Pope is the person who fixes everything and makes it okay again. This character has become a legend in her field and even the President has made use of her services. She relies on her skill and talent, but the best weapon she retains in her arsenal is her impressive gut feeling that very seldom leads her astray. She is the master at diffusing problems, although she does have a few issues of her own to work out.
1. “Grey’s Anatomy”
Shonda is the front runner for the super series “Grey’s Anatomy.” She is the talent behind the development of Merideth Grey and the team of talented physicians that work with her in a Seattle hospital. The characters are developed so well that we can easily connect with them on a personal level. The struggles that young interns face along with the life and death decisions that they must make on a daily basis is exciting enough, but there is also an amazing infusion of their personal lives and the dramas that unfold as we get an in-depth look at each character, and what motivates them to do the things they do. The series has taught us a lot of important life lessons and the creation that has gone on behind the scenes is nothing short of brilliant.
