Pamela Anderson might be suffering from some backlash over what she said in her interview with Megan Kelly but the thing is, she’s got a good point. Anderson is no stranger to being smeared over the media regarding the things she’s said and done over the years and so knows how to handle it with grace and a poise that belies what she might really be feeling inside. In short she knows how to handle herself and the negative comments and remarks that might come her way won’t be doing a bit of good, but they also won’t be sticking to her for very long if at all.
Pamela knows what it’s like to be a victim of abuse as she’s said in the past and she knows what it’s like to allow men like Harvey Weinstein to have their way whenever they want it. The danger of that is in giving in. Once a person, a woman in particular, gives in then men such as Weinstein now believe that they own that woman, that they have every right to do or say whatever they want. What Anderson has said about this is that anyone dealing with those that want to take them into a hotel room or that answer the door in a robe or act in any way at all suggestive is someone to be avoided. She’s had her own issues with Weinstein in the past and has been pretty candid about the experience, citing that she’s had bad boyfriends that never treated her the way that Weinstein did.
The backlash from this is to be expected and more to the point it’s not really surprising since so many rumors have been spread about Pamela Anderson in the past that any words she speaks now seem tainted by it. But one has to wonder how much of the past was really her doing and how much was bad publicity brought on by the fact that she didn’t want to be kicked around Hollywood like some common blonde bimbo. That might seem a bit paranoid but with everything that’s been coming out lately the cloud of paranoia is beginning to lift just a bit and the idea that those rumors begun so long ago about the business are starting to ring true.
No one wants to believe them, everyone wants to think that Hollywood is a shining, happy place that runs on dreams and only squashes those that want everything without being willing to work for it. Yet it’s been shown time and time again that the industry is more than willing to chew up those that don’t conform to its many different ways and kowtow in the manner that those in power want. Pamela Anderson was at one time a huge star that seemed to have her career all mapped out and readily handed to her. At this point however she has fully admitted that she’s had anything but an easy time, and is more than willing to call out those that have made her life less than easy. Somehow I think she was expecting the backlash.
