We might have to rename Netflix to “king of the reboots.” They’re just taking over when it comes to old, popular shows that deserve a revival. The latest show getting a reboot is “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.” Netflix is clearly capitalizing on nostalgia by bringing back Kyan Douglas, Ted Allen, Carson Kressley, Jai Rodriguez and Thom Filicia to entertain viewers with their design, decor, and lifestyle expertise.
“In a time when America stands divided and the future seems uncertain, a team of five brave men will try to bring us closer together with laughter, heart, and just the right amount of moisturizer,” said a statement from the producers to Entertainment Weekly.
For those that don’t remember the show, each cast member has a special skill that they use in each “project.” Using fashion, food and wine, interior design, grooming, and pop culture, each episode consists of these 5 men helping to make over a straight guy so that he can impress the woman he’s trying to get or loves. Back in 2004 the series actually won an Emmy for Outstanding Reality Series.
The “Fab 5” are excited to be back and viewers are too. There’s no word on when production will begin or what states they’ll start with but fans are already buzzing on social media. Fan favorite Carson Kressley has been making waves on the New Celebrity Apprentice so perhaps this is where the idea came from. At least that’s my theory. Makes perfect sense and the timing is definitely right. Donald Trump just took office, I’m sure he’ll be watching.
