Does anyone remember watching The History Channel when it was actually a channel about history? I’m talking at least 10-20 years ago before the show was flooded with reality series about lost treasures and vehicles. I mean everything is reality TV these days but The History Channel used to actually be educational and boring like any other History Channel would and should be. If there’s one thing I remember about The History Channel is that it seemed like an endless reel of films about Nazi Germany and World War II.
While these were incredibly informative they would put you to sleep in two seconds. However, Netflix just released a trailer for a new documentary about World War II that looks amazing. It’s called Five Came Back. The tagline for the movie is “Five directors went to World War II to tell the truth, and changed filmmaking forever.”
The film is produced by a group that includes Steven Spielberg and none other than Meryl Streep is the narrator (I guess Morgan Freeman passed). But if you want to see a true, historical documentary that will educate (and inspire) you check out this film on March 31st.
