In April 2019, Monique had a tense time as her 4-month-old baby son, Chase Omari Samuels, underwent surgery to correct an inguinal hernia. After coming across a video of the RHOA ladies saying how they’d pick Monique if they could choose any housewife from other cities to join the upcoming season 11 reunion of RHOA, Monique was more than delighted. “This made me smile,” Monique shared on Instagram. “I came across this video during the wait and it really put a smile on my face. It was so needed so thank you @porsha4real @cynthiabailey10 @shamaridevoe for the love you beautiful queens.”
6. She was caught off guard by the arrest of Michael Darby
In September 2018, RHOP was rocked by the news Ashley Darby’s husband Michael had been arrested on charges of second-degree assault and improper sexual contact against a cameraman. The case was eventually dropped on the grounds of insufficient evidence, but it nonetheless took a toll on Monique and the rest of RHOP’s cast and crew, who were divided in their opinions on Michael’s guilt. “They’re so many different questions that all of us had, and it was just one of those things where it’s like, you really don’t know. The charges were dropped, so you can only hope that if something did happen, that he could have learned from this whole incident and you know, keep your hands to yourself,” Monique explained to Hollywood Life.

Her parents can take most of the credit for Monique’s strength and “have-a-go” attitude — a case in point being her father’s insistence that before she got behind the wheel of a car, she learned how to change a tire and check under the hood (the idea being that should any problems arise, Monique wouldn’t have to rely on anyone other than herself for help).
9. She manages her husband’s career
Not only does Monique have her own successful career, but she’s also taking care of her husband’s. Ever since the two married in March 2012, Monique has been supporting Chris as much in his professional life as in his personal one.
