Even if you’re not a fan of Metallica seeing them in concert is an incredible experience. While I wouldn’t consider myself to be the biggest Metallica fan I definitely love most of their big hits. And if there’s one thing that’s certain it’s that I’ll never forget seeing these guys on stage back in the 90s at Lollapalooza here in my home state of New York. There was this energy about them that just commanded your attention. And when these guys played Enter Sandman? Forget it. One word would describe these guys: power. According to KSTP:
And they’re bringing that power back this summer. U.S. Bank Stadium officials announced Wednesday morning that hard rock band Metallica will play in the new stadium in August. Stadium officials announced through Twitter that Metallica will play Aug. 20. Avenged Sevenfold and Volbet will open for the Los Angeles-based band. Metallica has released nine albums, two which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 album charts. The band has won eight Grammy awards. Metallica features guitarist/vocalist James Hetland and drummer Lars Ulrich. The concert is listed on the band’s website.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. March 25. The $1.1 billion U.S. Bank Stadium is expected to open in July.
Metallica is one of those bands that can easily span decades (and they have). Their music holds up in any era. Dare I call them The Rolling Stones of the metal world? I’m not even joking. People don’t realize just how long these guys have been around. We’re talking over 30 years guys. And they don’t seem to be slowing down in the least. It’s one of those rare situations where the core nucleus has remained close and they just want to keep making music as well as entertaining fans.
I know I’ll be looking for tickets ASAP. U.S. Bank looks to be an incredible venue. Let’s hope the sound system is up to snuff.
