‘The Detour’ is a TBS comedy television series that premiered on April 11, 2016, and it is now in its fourth season, which premiered on June 18, 2019. The series, which was created by Jason Jones and Samantha Bee, is about a family road trip that gets out of control. Jason Jones
Jason Jones portrays Nate Parker, Jr., the father of the Parker family who features in this series. He is also the co-creator of the series, along with his wife Samantha Bee. This Canadian actor is best known for being a correspondent on ‘The Daily Show with Jon Stewart’ from 2005 to 2015. During his time on this series, he was sent to the 2014 Sochi Olympics as a mock reporter. In the past, he has also performed as part of a sketch comedy troupe called The Bobroom. ‘The Detour’ is not the first series that Jones has co-written and then starred in himself; he also co-wrote, co-produced, and starred in the 2004 film ‘Ham & Cheese’. Jones has had minor roles in films including ‘’Terminal Invasion’, ‘Public Domain’, ‘All About Steve’, ‘The Night Before’, ‘Pitch Perfect’, and ‘Pitch Perfect 2′. In terms of his other work in television, Jones has had roles in ‘Queer as Folk’, ‘How I Met Your Mother’, and ‘Law & Order’. He has also appeared in many television advertisements. Jones and Bee have been married since 2001 and they have three children together.
Natalie Zea
Nate Parker Jr.’s wife Robin Randall is played by Natalie Zea, who has played this role since the beginning of season one. This actress has had a career in entertainment since 1995, and she began her career in theatre. Her first major television role was in the NBC soap opera ‘Passions’. However, the role that made her famous was playing socialite Karen Darling in the ABC soap opera ‘Dirty Sexy Money’ from 2007 to 2009. She has also had recurring roles in ‘Californication’, ‘Hung’, and ‘The Shield’. One of the roles for which she is now best known is playing Winona Hawkins in the FX crime drama series ‘Justified’. Zea is also known for her role in ‘The Following. This Texan actress dated her ‘Passions’ co-star Travis Schuldt for ten years before they married in Hawaii in 2014. Their daughter, Reygan, was born in 2015.
Ashley Gerasimovich
Ashley Gerasimovich plays Delilah, one of the Parker family preteen twins. It is for this role that the young actress is best known. However, she has already made her name for herself in entertainment circles as she began her career as an actress at the age of just five when she made her acting debut in a single episode of ‘Mercy’ back in 2009. She then landed the role of Jane in ‘Louie’ and appeared in four episodes in 2010. In the same year, she landed her first film role playing Samantha Wilson in the 2010 film ‘Fair game’. In terms of her film career, she has had roles in ‘We Need to Talk About Kevin’, ‘Ashley’, ‘The Stand Up’, ‘Take Me to the River’. ‘Keep In Touch’, and ‘A Different Sun’. Gerasimovich was also in the 2010 television movie ‘This Little Piggy’ portraying Zoie Graham. She has appeared in episodes of ’30 Rock’, ‘Secret Lives of Husbands and Wives’, ‘Blue Bloods’, ‘Deadbeat’, and ‘The Heart, She Holler’. She currently lives in New York City with her family, including an older sister, Alexa, and a younger sister, Erin.
Liam Carroll
Jared Parker is the second twin from the Parker family, and he is played by Liam Carroll. This is his first major role in television. His only prior television acting role was appearing in a single episode of ‘The Neighbors’ as a guest star in 2014. However, he does have some other acting experience as he began acting at the age of 10 when he started performing at The Family Theater Inc. in Hermosa Beach. Since landing the role of Jared Parker in ‘The Detour’, he has also appeared as a guest star on TBS’ ‘Angie Tribeca’. He lives in California with his parents, Timothy and Siobhan, his sister Norah, and his brother Ronan. He has a dog called Stanley and his hobbies include writing, playing soccer, trampolining, body surfing, and hanging out with his friends.
Daniella Pineda
In ‘The Detour’, Daniella Pineda plays the role of Vanessa Randall. This Mexican-American actress, writer, and comedian comes from Oakland, California. Pineda first came to public attention when she was cast as the witch Sophie in an episode of the fourth season of The CW series ‘The Vampire Diaries’. The episode in which she appeared was also intended as a pilot for a potential spinoff series called ‘The Originals’. Initially, it was intended that Pineda would retain the part if the series was aired. After three rewrites of the script, she was unfortunately written out of the series. Since then, she had a small role in ‘American Odyssey’ prior to landing the role of Vanessa Randall in ‘The Detour’. In addition to her television work, Pineda is also establishing a career in film. Some of her most recent television work includes playing the role of Cassidy Barrett in the Netflix anthology thriller ‘What/If’.
