Massive Army of Dancing Robots Sets a New World Record

There seem to be a lot of new world records being made doing things that make no sense to anyone except those doing them. I suppose though if you need to be famous for doing something there are worse things. An army of dancing robots is kind of fun to watch really. But on the practical side there isn’t much there other than the chance to prove that you can sync up that many toy robots to do exactly the same thing.

It doesn’t sound easy at all to be honest, but it does sound like this type of research could be placed elsewhere and be just as useful. Dancing robots would be something that you do on your off time if you have any. Unless this is a toy robot company I don’t really see the need for setting this kind of record, but to each their own.

On the more positive side this is kind of impressive as one can only imagine how precise every single robot must be made, how their programming must be keyed in so that a single program can run simultaneously on every single robot. Now if they were programmed to do anything other than simple movements it seems like things would have to take a different turn and the programmers would have to change their game up a little, but this is coming from someone that looks at this type of thing as a child might look at a complex math equation.

Like so many other people I look at this and think that it’s a pleasant distraction from real life, but not much else. It’s impressive to say the least but it’s not entirely practical. The idea that anyone would be going for this kind of record kind of boggles my mind, especially since all this work and time and effort doesn’t seem to do much more than guarantee your name in a record book that few if any people will ever read or take note of. There’s nothing in life saying that anyone has to be a glory hound, but this seems to be an opportunity to strive for something that just doesn’t make a lot of sense.

It’s kind of hard to believe there’s actually a category such as this and that anyone would give it that much credence. But once again, and as I’ll say each and every time something doesn’t make sense, to each their own.  It took a lot of effort and a great team to put this together, but unless your chief export is dancing robots or programs that are used for syncing up systems that need to coordinate with one another then this seems a little silly.

No offense to the creators of this modern marvel and none at all to the people that helped out, but the whole thing seems to be just a bit strange and takes away from the wonder that is technology. We might need a distraction now and again but the better distraction would have been to do something worthwhile.
